So I just updated to Lion from 10.6.8, and am now running 10.7.2. Everything works great, including iTunes access and App Store access. However, I can't create an iCloud account. I receive the following message:

"This device is no longer eligible for creating an Apple ID."

Has anyone else received this, and is there a fix?

I also get that when I try to create a apple ID with iCloud..
don't you have any apple ID in the moment? try to log in with that first.. (I assume that everybody has one these days)

if you still don't have any luck try this method..

Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't work either...

I checked to make sure that I don't have too many computers logged in with my Apple ID, and I do not. No one else is having this issue?

same here... uh oh

works fine on my macbook pro

Same issue here ...

Yeah, +1 on that error message here. :(

You need to own an iOS device running iOS 5 for a free iCloud account (iPad, iPhone 3GS or higher)

If you are still having problems try this:

I fixed it with this procedure

Solution: Change /Extra/smbios.plist serial number- for example:

Code: <key>SMserial</key>
<string>G88451235J4</string>

change 845123 to something between 750xxx to 905xxx

Code: <key>SMserial</key>
<string>G88451005J4</string>

then reboot.

Thanks
