Hello everybody,

I bought a Dell S2721QS 4K monitor for my Inspiron 7590
I am using a USB-C -> Display Port cable to connect to the monitor.

4K is working, but I am struggling since months now to get 60Hz refresh rate.
I think I have tried all possible combinations and options, except the right one!

So I am a bit desperate now and I am looking for help from the community.
Attached is my config.plist. I'm running openCore 0.7.9, all kexts are up to date.

As bonus, if you could get me audio out on DP that would be great ;)

I have attached boot and system logs, if you need anything else, please ask!

Thanks,
Chris

is not needed:
agdpmod=vit9696

are all those other boot arguments required? seems to be quite a few you have there

MacBookPro15,2 is for CoffeeLake

I agree that most of these boot arguments are not required. I added them recently while trying to find a solution.

But if I remove vit9696, then my external display is not working anymore.
Is there any other change I need to do to be able to remove vit9696 option ?

have you tried https://macdownload.informer.com/resxtreme/

I tried SwitchResX without success some time ago.
Now, as you suggested, I have just tried Resxtreme, but I don't see 4k@60Hz in the list. (only 2k@60Hz max)

So for some reason MacOS is not able to properly collect the available modes. EDID info ??)

From the monitor tech spec, 4k@60Hz is available, and it does work when booting Windows.
I have tried USB-C => HDMI and USB-C => DP.

if you see 1980x2 that's still 4k just with an enhanced ui. I tried to get 4k 60hz with my Inspiron 7573 and it max out at 4k 30hz. ill try the usb-c to see if it changes. are you not seeing any 4k options? or just missing the 4k@60hz

4k is working but only at 30Hz
Here are all the resolutions that are listed at 60Hz
It stops at 2560x1440. Higher res are only 30Hz

Up !
Nobody has an idea ? Why 4k@60Hz does not appear in the list ?
Could it be an EDID issue ? Incompatibility between macOS and Dell monitors ?

more than likely the IGPU isn't capable of 4k@60Hz. when you're booting windows, the DGPU is probably producing the 4k@60Hz
