Greetings!

Most skylake guides ask to disable VT-d in Bios.

I want to build a monster Skylake to be able to run many VMs, and run the Android Studio Emulator (which also needs VT-d)

Will that be possible?

Thanks!

I think that was for installation, cause in my case I can run VMs after I installed.
Actually I didn't disable it during any installation.

my build is under my username (LEFT).

Well, you shouldn't disable it because you have Ivy-Bridge i3 on your hacks.
The question is about Skylake CPUs (6XXX gen).

VT-d is AFAIK not even supported on OS X, VT-x (Which is what VMWare requires on OS X) works fine.

VT-d is for passing through PCI(E) devices directly to the VM.

Also even with VT-d enabled you should be able to boot with the dart=0 flag.

I often use a Windows 7 and Ubuntu VM in VMWare on my hack.

Hi Gabeloooooo,

did you success to enable VT-d on a Skylake Hackintosh after installation and run Android emulators or Genymotion ?

I want to build a Hackintosh (Gigabyte Z170X-UD5 TH + Core i7-6700K) and I need to enable VT-d, I'm a French Android developer

Yep, as long as VT-x is on, you're fine for Android AVD, didn't try Genymotion but I'm sure it is fine
