Can i use older kext?

Hi everyone,
i've got an old but gold canon ip5200 printer.
latest kext available on canon site is for osx lion.
can i install it or could you confirm it works out of the box?

Normally, if you have your USB printer connected and Powered, Sierra will prompt you and indicate that it knows it has a Printer in the system and will seek your Permission to install the driver it can download from the net. If Sierra cannot recognize and does not prompt you for driver installation, I doubt it will work with any driver. Forcing a bad driver can cause Kernel panic as a disastrous consequence!
