On the topic of mice, however, I would suggest the Logitech G500. Setup whatever macros you want in Windows, right them to the mouse's memory, and those macros will work in OS X. This works because I'm using it right now.
That's an interesting fact. I did not know that. I'm going to look more into that mouse. Is there any way to set up those macros without booting windows?
It would seem you know a lot more than nothing
Any Logitech gaming mouse should be able to use this method, but I'm only able to vouch for the G500. This method ONLY works if you use Macros (i.e. assign keyboard shortcuts to mouse buttons, like CMD+W or CMD+H).
Unfortunately, you must have access to a windows machine to set it up, but once you finalize your macros and write them to the onboard memory, it's all flowers and rainbows. If you want to edit the macros, you'll have to go to the same windows machine you used to set it up, assuming you haven't uninstalled SetPoint. If you have, you'll have to start from scratch).
I just have a lot of experience tinkering with settings .
