I'm planning on building my first computer...posted in here like a week ago. These are the parts that I'm thinking of getting:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core $189.99
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 54.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing $17.99
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 ATX LGA1155 $127.86
Memory: Corsair XMS3 8GB (4 x 2GB) DDR3-1600 $59.99
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Green 1.5TB 3.5" 5400RPM $118.42
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 680 2GB $507.55
Power Supply: Cougar 560W ATX12V $68.63
Optical Drive: Asus BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer $69.98
Monitor: Acer S231HLbid 23.0" $159.99

- are these parts all compatible with running MacOS? I hear that the GTX 680 is incompatible with MacOS, are there any graphics cards that are on par or more powerful than it that are compatible? because I also would like to dual boot into windows to use this as a gaming pc that can run games in ultra settings. thanks!

- are there any unneccesary parts that i can cut/get cheaper?

so is it confirmed that the gtx680 will be compatible? because that would be amazing!

If Gordo says it will be, then 99,9999% it will be ;)

Just couple things: I don't know about the optical drive, have you checked if someone else got it to work?
CPU cooler: you should go with the Evo 212 or if your case has enough space and can fit it, a Thermaltake Silver Arrow (this cpu cooler is HUGE!).
RAMs: get 2x8GB to be able to upgrade later if you need. RAM is pretty cheap these days. I only recommend low-profile sticks, if you use a big cpu cooler like Silver Arrow or Noctua, low-profile RAM is a must!
Mobo: if you use a Ivy Bridge CPU, you could easily go with a Z77 board. There are many users here using Z77 boards successfully, so you could do some research on that ;)
If you can buy it, you could go with a SSD. This is the only part that makes real difference against a HDD and you won't get that much speed boost for that price with other parts

alright, so these are the parts that I am thinking of now. is everything looking good?

CPU Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core $189.99
CPU Cooler Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing $32.12
Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H ATX LGA1155 $109.99
Memory Corsair XMS 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1333 $96.99
Hard Drive Western Digital Caviar Green 1.5TB 3.5" 5400RPM $118.42
Video Card EVGA GeForce GTX 680 2GB $507.55
Power Supply Cougar 560W ATX12V $68.63
Optical Drive Asus BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer $69.98

alright, I'll do some more research about that!

and does anyone have a case recommendation?

edit: i'm thinking of having both Mountain Lion and Windows 7 dual boot on a single SSD, and then have the two share one single hard drive for data storage. would that be possible? if so, how big would the SSD have to be? I'm sorry for asking so much questions haha...I just want to be sure about everything
