Hello everybody,

I want to build a new hackintosh for a friend, (he works with audio on protools and Logic Pro x, beginner) and asked me if I can help him.

I think that this parts will work but, with a 750€ or 800€ max what can be better?

Intel Core i7 6700K 4.2Ghz 1151. - 297,61 €
Gigabyte GA-Z270P-D3 - 84,99€
Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H45 - 49,99€
Tacens Anima APII750 ATX 750W - 24,99€
n900 wifi tp-link wdn-4800 (wifi adapter) - 37€
Crucial Ballistix Sport LT DDR4 8GB CL16 - 61,99€ x2
Aerocool RIFT RGB USB 3.0 (Case) - 35,99€
Seagate BarraCuda 3.5" 1TB SATA3 - 46,59€ x2
Nvidia gtx 710 2gb - 50€

I want to run Mac OSX Mojave.

Thanks!

I think you should go for a newer cpu (and mainboard). 8600 (65W), 8700(k) or 9600k (95W). Skip the Old GPU UHD 630 is better. I would go for 16GB of RAM and a 550W Supply should be enough.

Agreed, 16gb is the minimum for recent versions of Pro Tools. The 6-core 8700 i7 is the sweet spot for audio, i think. No need whatsoever for a GPU, PT / Logic are light on the graphics & the integrated should be fine, so save that money and spend it on the cpu!

Also, I'd recommend an ssd instead of one of the hds. you can pick up a samsung 860 evo 256gb for $52 at newegg (or 512gb for $83) & use that as a system drive, and even for current audio sessions. Keep older audio sessions on the hd. The whole system will be much faster.

It would be wise to get a Broadcom based Wifi card that will work OOB with Mojave.
Have a look at: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016K0896K/?tag=tonymacx86com-20

If you want BT in the card too look at the Fenvi FV-T919. It's available direct from China if you are not in the USA.

Thanks for reply!

I will try the Fenvi FV-T919.

There is 16 GB of ram on the budget, 8gb x2 sticks.
And maybe will be best a ssd for the system and a hd for data. The price is almost the same.

I saw that the cheaper option is to go for a i7 6700k, is for that that is on the budget. But between the i7 6700k, i7 7700 or i7 8700 what will be the best? (Taking into account that we dont have much budget and the computer is for a beginner.)

Right now I have a 2016 Custo Mac Pro with i7 6700k and runs protools, logic... perfectly with more than 40 channels.

Thanks!
