Article: Building a CustoMac: Buyer's Guide October 2013
We recommend nVidia because Apple uses either Intel's Integrated Graphics or nVidia chipsets. AMD/ATI work, but they take effort and no all features work correctly. I recommend you play it safe and use an nVidia graphics card unless you have a compelling requirement for using a AMD/ATI graphics card.so amd cards not recommended at all?
The October Buyer's Guide is good for Mountain Lion and Mavericks.Hi, Is this guide good for Mavericks or should I wait for November 2013 guide? (I'm eying to get a Customac Pro hardware very soon).
The simple answer is you don't need a graphics card if both your motherboard and processor support Intel's Integrated Graphics (HD3000/HD4000/HD4600) - both have to go together. However, Intel's Integrated Graphics is good for general purpose computer and audio recording. However, if you are a gamer or are going to use your system for photographic and/or video editing, you'll probably want a graphics card.Do you NEED a graphics card with the Gigabyte motherboards? Are the display drivers in the motherboard supported in Mavericks?
