Hey all! I have question regarding setting up the newer bootchime feature under Clover and/or OpenCore (which I plan to switch to in the coming months)

I have a PowerMac G5 that I’ve modded, and I’ve still retained the hefty internal speaker. For audio in Windows and macOS I’m using an external USB DAC, but I still have an internal front panel audio header that I planned to tap into for the chime to go to that internal speaker.

Looking at the documentation for Clover and OpenCore isn’t clear - is it possible to set which audio output the bootloader will output the chime to? Is my plan feasible?

Thank you!

For Clover, yes definitely. Go to your Clover OS picking screen,
navigate to Options -> Startup sound Output. On my machine
the Realtek_LineOut and Realtek_Speaker options work, but
the AMD HDMI does not. You can also adjust the Volume and
check by hitting F7, although the check noise is not the same as
the chime you get.

For Open Core 0.5.6, it still seems IMHO a little buggy. Acidanthera
refers to his bugtracker in the configuration manual on the AudioCodec
settings section. In my machine its only working on the LineOut port, and
only if it is configured correctly. My LineOut is node 20 (0x14) in the codec,
and I found it worked if I entered the decimal equivalent of 0x14000000
for AudioOut. I haven't yet gotten my speaker to work. khronokernel's
OpenCore Vanilla Guide gives the wrong name of the boot chime file,
which should be OCEFIAudio_VoiceOver_Boot.wav. You may also have
to reset NVRAM on boot, and set WriteFlash to false, as there is a hidden
Flash setting in my machine that prevents the chime.
