Boot stops at spinning wheel before disk selection

I'm having the same problem as described above. Mine is a brand new build with the z77x-up5th. I got it working for a couple days, but when I installed the ALC898 audio driver it crashed and got to this point. I deleted the driver from another system but it still won't boot and stops at the spinning wheel. It looks like this thread is a little older, but if anyone has any new ideas they'd be greatly appreciated.

Update: Found the solution on another forum. Problem was I had an external drive plugged in at boot. I simply unplugged the drive and it started right up!

I also had your same problem. The booting stops at the spinning of the ASCI page (not the Apple page). I resolved with unplugging the TWO extra HDD. If I unplug the extra two HDD (that are connected via SATA to the MB), the SSD that has the system Mavericks has no problem and starts the software with no issues. Now my questions is how can I avoid the unplugging of these two Hard drive disks? Maybe I should reformat them.
