Hi,

For some reason, my bluetooth dongles are not working anymore.
I have two of them, a generic one and a IOGear one. Both were working properly and without a glitch.

I haven't changed anything in my build. Two days ago, my system freezes after waking up from sleep. Which happened maybe one time before.

Here is the error that can be read in the Console :

Code:
4/26/13 8:14:14.000 AM kernel[0]: E:[AppleBluetoothHCIControllerUSBTransport][AppleBluetoothHCIControllerUSBTransport::BulkInReadHandler] Received kIOReturnNotResponding error - retrying: 1.
4/26/13 8:14:14.000 AM kernel[0]: [AppleBluetoothHCIControllerUSBTransport::ClearFeatureBulkEndpointHalt] DeviceRequest failed 0xE000404F.
4/26/13 8:14:14.000 AM kernel[0]: [AppleBluetoothHCIControllerUSBTransport][ClearFeatureInterruptEndpointHalt] -- ClearPipeStall returned e00002ed
4/26/13 8:14:14.000 AM kernel[0]: [AppleMultitouchDevice::willTerminate] entered
4/26/13 8:14:14.000 AM kernel[0]: [AppleMultitouchDevice::stop] entered
And here is what happened when I plugged the Bluetooth device :

Code:
4/26/13 8:09:42.000 AM kernel[0]: [IOBluetoothHCIController][start] -- completed
4/26/13 8:11:24.000 AM kernel[0]: [BroadcomBluetoothHCIControllerUSBTransport][start] -- completed
4/26/13 8:11:24.000 AM kernel[0]: [IOBluetoothHCIController][staticBluetoothHCIControllerTransportShowsUp] -- Received Bluetooth Controller register service notification
4/26/13 8:11:24.000 AM kernel[0]: [IOBluetoothHCIController::setConfigState] calling registerService

Any idea what is going on ? I can read that it stopped working, but can't guess why.

My mobo is GA-Z77X-UD5H.

Thanks for your help.

Eddy

And here is what the console says when plugging the generic bluetooth in the same USB connector :

Anyone, an idea ?
Last time it worked after reboot, but stopped after sleep/wake up.

And I still don't understand what may have cause this problem.

Nothing new on my problem here. I ordered an internal Apple Bluetooth card, but will keep looking for an explanation.
And even the internal may not work, since I will be hooking it to a USB internal connector on the mother board.... But since it will be an Apple one, I hope it will be able to make it work flawlessly.

At the moment, even without any bluetooth dongle, the icon is still showing as if the bluetooth was connected and working.

EDIT :
Again after a reboot it's workin, but only with the IOGear dongle.

BUt as soon as I had this :

It stopped working.

So I changed the battery of my trackpad (which was Eneloop rechargeable batteries) with non-rechargeable Energizer batteries and it's working. I will wait to see if this was the origin of the problem.

I have the same problem with the ioGear U521 the one from the buyers guide. A lot of errors and not working well. Stops working at times and skips. I have the same Console errors as you. I have tried it in all ports. And tried changing the BIOS settings. Same board as you.

I also built a Apple Bluetooth dongle a long time ago. It works very well still although the chip is from an older MacBook. It seems to have some errors in Console but nothing that restricts the actual function. Sleep wake works with the mouse.

I just found some errors about the battery level (I have edited my previous post while you were sending yours apparently)
Changed the batteries to see if it helps.

But will definitely use the original bluetooth from Apple as soon as it arrives. Hoping this will guaranty me no more problems.

I wish the Logitech T650 Trackpad would be available for mac. Using the same dongle as my keyboard, it would be the best option IMHO to avoid this bluetooth thing (my trackpad is my one and only bluetooth device...)

Thanks for your feedback !

You may check if you don't have any request (for me it was the bettery level) sent from your computer to the trackpad that may be blocking everything. I noticed for example that when my trackpad stopped working, it could take like 30 seconds to open the bluetooth preference panel from the bluetooth icon in the top bar. And when it's working (as now) it opens pretty much immediately.

I have changed the batteries so that I have 100% and it didn't seem to make a difference in the Console errors with the ioGear dongle for me. But with the batteries at 100% the response with connecting and the Bluetooth settings seem to be faster. But I still have an interesting problem with the dual monitor setup, it seems to skip to the other monitor on its own.

The Apple Bluetooth chip mod is your best bet. I have been watching Console and it seems that mine has resending errors. But again this doesn't affect the performance, works perfectly so it seems.

The trackpad from your first link use Bluetooth too... So not sure it may work much better.

I read the news about the G series support but since they already have a trackpad for mac, I doubt they ever make this one available :
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/touchpad-t650?crid=1153
But the 2.4GHz wireless logitech transmitter would be perfect for my use !

By the way, since I have changed my batteries, bluetooth is back to normal. And I also have a dual monitor setup, no jumping at all with my IOGear GBU521. BUT I had some jumping when I had the trackpad too far from the dongle (mainly when plugged on the back of my case in fact) so I usually plug it on the front-top of the case. Or directly to the USB port of my Dell monitor although this last solution wasn't very reliable sometimes since I also have a Creative Bluetooth Audio BT-D1 USB Transmitter connected on the monitor that is USB connected to my case.

Do you have a cordless phone near the computer? Sometimes they use similar frequencies, this won't cause the errors in your logs but it might improve reception if you move the phone a few feet away.

It is reception based. You are right. The dongle does not have good range. I moved it from the back of the PC to the front and a lot of problems went away.

My home built one with a WiFi antenna, the range is a lot better and picks up my neighbours phone in the next apartment.
