I really appreciate your help. Unfortunately I didn't quite follow your instructions. Here's what happened. I mounted my EFI partition, trashed the contents, replaced with yours and unmounted. I installed lilu.kext with kextbeast, shut down, replaced the video card and started up. It got as far as the Clover screen. It didn't see my SSD so couldn't go any further. I removed the SSD and put it in an external case, mounted it on a laptop, replaced the contents of the EFI partition with my saved old one, reinstalled the SSD and here I am... with my GT 740. I obviously did something wrong. Any other suggestions?
Just to add, my WiFi stopped working with the upgrade as well. It shows up in the menu bar as "on" but no networks show and you can't turn it off. Hackintool shows it on the PCI bus. I posted this to the Post Installation/Network section of the forum but no one has replied yet.
