I'm about to make this build to bring on the road with me...anyone tried it with the 4770K? Would that pose any problems that I'm unaware of (I believe the 4xxx use less power than 3xxx unless I'm mistaken)?

Thanks in advance & I greatly appreciate your detailed write-up bitdoctor!

I have had this board running in my eHack for about a year and was wondering about a couple of things...

    1. What system definition are you using?

    2. How do you interact with your Synology NAS? i.e., what services do you use, music server, Time Machine, do you use iSCSI?

    Thanks,
    Mike

What is the fastest i7 you would recommend putting in this build?

Excellent article and a beautiful build! It's been a few years since you've built this. How's it going? Is it still running? That small enclosure has a lot of appeal, and I'm thinking of doing the same thing.

I have this basic build using an i3 3225. The fan runs on high speed even with light cpu loading. Does anyone else have this issue or is it just me?

I have this build since 2013 as well, and still going strong. Running on El Capitan at the moment. I have been trying to install High Sierra but can't. All I get is a white circle indicating fail installation.
