Hi guys, just wanted to say thank you EVERYONE for all their efforts.

I have successfully installed SL (osx 10.6.8 10k549) on my HP 4530s. I have used the MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.8 and the Probook installer and followed all the steps in the guide.

The only issue I have is no wifi.

The Bluetooth works but no wifi is visible.

I have read here that some wifi cards need replacing but I dont know:

What Wifi Card I have
How to check what Wifi Card I have.

I dont even know what version of the HP4530s I have. Im rubbish sorry!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Kind Regards
Paul

Run 'lspci -nn' in Linux Terminal to find out what WiFi you have.

Thank you RehabMan, can this be done in Mac Terminal? I have no experience with Linux...

I don't think so. There is 'dspci' available for download, but it might not run on SL (it is part of DPCIManager). You could discover it by looking in your ioreg, but it is a bit unfriendly to novices.

You can create a Linux USB for free, and it is not hard to determine how to run Terminal. No need to install, just run directly from the USB.

You could also determine in Windows.

I'll give that a try when I can thanks. Is it possible to physically tell if I open the laptop up?

I'm away from home right now...

I took your advice and created an iso disc of: "PuppyLinux" once booted into that I generated a report of the system. (System > System Status and Config > HardInfo hardware information)

Does this help? Im still lost with what im looking for...

Any help is greatly appreciated and I hope my explanation can help others. : )

Realtek WiFi is not supported. Refer to the FAQ for information on WiFi cards supported on the 4x30s series ProBooks.

Ok thank you for your help. I thought that might be the case. Appreciated.
