I just tried again, changing all values in /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHIDKeyboard.kext/Contents/Info.plist, but IOReg still shows 0x0007003a,0xff010021,0x0007003b,0xff010020 after changing all to 00x0007003a,0x0007003a,0x0007003b,0x0007003b.

Did you repaired the permissions and rebuild the cache? If so, enter the following command into the terminal to see if the value can be found elsewhere.

grep -r 0xff010021 /System/Library/Extensions

Confirmed working after a reboot with a Dell U3415W. High Sierra 10.13.3 17D102. Functions keys worked without any further work. Awesome thanks so much!

Yes, I repaired the permissions and grepped /System/Library/Extensions, there is no other occurrence. Anyways, I'm now using MonitorControl, which works by listening for the actual “brightness up/down” keys. This way you also don't lose the F1/F2 keys, at least once https://github.com/the0neyouseek/MonitorControl/issues/23 is fixed.

Thank you for your continued help, @wern.

v1.1

For now, that like most big changes I've done for this app. I don't have other monitor to improve multi monitor features, also monitor with speakers. So I can't work on these features. Any bugs if found - will be fixed. Thanks everybody.

p.s. I'm thinking - should I maybe create a new topic here? Well, it's whatever for me, but it's a really like different app now with my changes.. any admins reads this? Can you clarify me pls.

Hi pls take a look at https://github.com/ikasou/NativeDisplayBrightness - I have implemented the Volume controls on top of the original v0.5, should be straightforward to merge into your version if you feel so inclined ...

Hey, can you create a pull request so? Just adding functionality for my latest code and I can add GUI changes later.

I am glad that you have found a solution. I have tried this App, but I do not need an menu icon or additional preferences menu. I like it when it's simple.

Hi Bensge,

Do you happen to know if this works on Apple Cinema Displays (27inch) using the mDP?
I cant seem to get it working...

Thank you.

Have you followed the instructions in the github repo?
Open app, allow it in sys pref, close app then reopen.
Also, I've read that F1/F2 keys doesn't work with the Apple keyboard. Needs some remapping.
