I see it for $117.

When it first ran out of stock Newegg wasn't accepting orders. Now they're taking back orders. Very good deal.
 
What determines whether or not an m.2 NVME drive will fit the OptiMac motherboard and serve well as the boot drive without complex shenanigans?
I've just read a 'Best Of 2020 SSDs' feature, and I get the feeling I'm missing something.

There is no M.2 slot on the board. You need to buy a separate PCIe adapter, probably best to use the x4 slot.

I notice no one talks about hybrid drives anymore, and I suspect there's a reason. Would a hybrid like the Seagate, below, work acceptably as a storage - NOT boot - OptiMac drive?

Thank you. Slowly the fog is lifting (but only slowly). I'll be reading the archives again. Some things stick less well than others.
