Hi everybody,

I have been in Premiere crash hell for the last day. I'm running a GTX 260 in my Hack. Exporting a movie from PP CS6 has never consistently worked. Exports would just stop 5%, 11%, 27%, 33% - no rhyme or reason. But it would happen, I could restart and get a render out. No dice now. I have uninstalled / reinstalled CS6, cleared preview files, etc..

I did upgrade my CUDA drivers and that's had something to do with the total refusal to render, but as I said, it was never totally smooth before.

Which card / driver combination is the quickest most stable?

Thanks.

Believe it or not having a 9800GT was the most stable card I ever used with CS5 or 6. That wasn't in MLion though. I know what your saying about the CS6 crashing a lot. It has been crashing a lot for me as well. Maybe, this is something Adobe needs to fix.

Anyway, try a GTX285 or a GTX660Ti. Those were also stable for me.

Thanks for the feedback.

I was thinking about the 660 Ti. I read I should not do the OC version though and that Gigabyte seemed to be the brand that might be most stable.

Well, that Gigabyte 660Ti was the one that I was able to use on the old P55A board you have. I liked it but returned it since I was given a card by a buddy. I do wish I had that card instead though. Super quite and runs cool.

Are you working with 4K or 2K RAW footage? Do you have use the Ray Tracer a lot in After Effects?

I´m using a Gigabyte GTX660 Ti OC atm, on 10.8.2 with with both latest nvidia cuda and ordinary drivers.
No problems what so ever with Photoshop, Premiere and Dreamweaver..all 3 CS6.

thank you for this valuable information!

i think this is the card i m looking for , after all i read so far.

Thank you all for the precious informations gathered here,
I spend hours sharing your great achievement, and a spécial thanx those who still come here to give us the results of their builds once it's done! Really i want to experience my first build with you and help as much as i can with my modest skills and knowledge!(that was sincere!! really)
I've worked so far on image/video editing in a 2008 Macbook Pro then on a 2011 one (i7 2,4Ghz Radeon 6670 16Go RAM) and a Macmini i7 Lionserver 8Go RAM!
Now i want a workstation: my 2011 Mac Mini was usefull, but i need something else now: i m sellin the mac mini and i'll put some 500€ extra money.
At the begining i was looking for an iMac.
But i'm sick of their computers, waiting for a powerfull Mac workstation leads to nothing! iMac and the Mac pro , are like jokes (i'm talking about their pricing)!
So i decided to find an alternative way!
i found you (so imagine how glad i was when i fell on this rockin site)
i told to myself: this is possible! even for me!
so i read a lot but i'm stil not ready for this, all by myself
i want to optimize the workflow (correcting the lags experienced untill now) when i was using Adobe Premiere Aftereffects and photoshop! It
seems to be HDD issues!
the other problem is that my radeon doesn't use the Mercury engine, and i want a performing machine for any rendering task.
the third problem is that i manage huge amount of data at the begining and at the end of my projects.and i want to save time as much as mossible on these tasks
Of course my wish is the best value for money , and the best price/performance ratio in video editing in a Max 1820$ (1400€) build.
as i posted this post, i still gather as much information as i can
and now i still have many questions as "do i need this CPU or can i get a cheaper one?
i'm also wondering if the 660ti is the best suited GPU for me (looks like last generation were more performant in OPEN CL video rendering)
i'll work on PREMIERE PRO CS6 on OSX , i wish i could have some clue on this too!
About OS, i a newbie, never installed OS X before.:|
thanks again
