Best 4k monitor recommendation request for Asus z170a onboard graphics?

What's the best 4K monitor (or retina like)that works with the Asus Z170a motherboard as hackintosh with no additional graphics card


I have a 27" Apple Thunderbolt Display Monitor already but seems I'm not able to use it with my hackintosh build, there is no thunderbolt input port on the card or chassis. So thinking I need to get a new monitor that is at least as good or better.
My build is not for gaming, just viewing videos and basic front end development tools/apps.

You'll want to go from your onboard DP output to DP in on your 4K monitor. So DP in (full size) is a must for your monitor choice. HDMI won't give you 4K @ 60Hz. There is an LG 4K monitor available on Amazon at a reasonable price. Apple buys their iMac panels from LG. Both are IPS 4K monitors so the colors look great and the viewing angles are wide.

Newegg has a similar model that costs about $200 less. Don't believe it is 99% sRGB like the above model.

Thanks . After reading some review comments regarding tiny letters and as I'll mostly be using it for coding and much less often video viewing I won't be making use of the highest resolution as much day to day, but I want a good sharp display I'm considering this smaller dell

I used a 27" 4K monitor for about 1.5 years (I think). While I could see everything when using the native 3840x2160 resolution, it was not comfortable. Eventually, I backed it down to 3200x1800.

Last week, I upgraded to a 32" 4K monitor and I'm now happily using 3840x2160. The difference between 27" and 32" is huge. I would recommend you seriously consider 32" or larger.

If you go with the 24", I think you would have to scale the resolution down a lot to be able to see text comfortably.

Also, my previous 27" was a Dell and it suffered from an issue where it would sometimes not wake from sleep properly. I would have to turn the monitor off and on again. It was not a major problem for me but if you are buying new, there are probably alternatives that don't have this issue. But, I don't know if the same issue affects the 24" model.

According to me, Best 4K gaming monitor is Acer Predator XB321HK. It is one of the best 4k gaming monitor. You can see the reviews at gamingbuff with ratings and comparisons.

For 3840x2160 (or 4096x2304 specially for LG UltraFine 4K), go with either something 21.5~24" (retina sharpness, less space) or around 43" (traditional sharpness, more space). Intermediate size like 32" will mess you up with UI scaling.

I went for Samsung U24E590 which is 24" running at 3840x2160 via DP. The reason for smaller size as poster above has stated was to get to retina sharpness matching my laptop. Have to say I'm very pleased with the outcome things really look good on it.
