Good afternoon,
I'm trying to complete my first build.
  1. Description of audio problem
    • The strange thing is I can hear audio if I use my USB headphone/mic. However, if I connect a 3.5mm headphone, the device is not listed.
  2. OS X version/motherboard model/BIOS version/processor/graphics
    • OSX 10.12.6
    • ASUS ROG STRIX Z270E GAMING LGA 1151 ATX Intel Motherboard
    • BIOS version 1009 x64
    • Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake 4.2 GHz LGA 1151
    • EVGA GeForce GTX 1080
  3. Procedure/Guide Used
  4. Copy of IOReg - IOReg_v2.1/File/Save a Copy As…, verify file (Tools 2.)
    • Attached in audio_troubleshoot.zip
  5. Terminal/Shell/Export Test As. . . (if script used)
    • None
  6. Screen shots:
    • Attached in audio_troubleshoot.zip
  7. Clover
    • Attached in audio_troubleshoot.zip
  8. Speakers and/or microphone
    1. USB Headphone: Gigaware 43-203; 3.5mm is a generic headphone and also tested Apple EarPods with 3.5 mm Headphone Plug
    2. USB headphone to case and motherboard USB; 3.5mm headphone to motherboard audio port (green) and case.
    3. Only USB Headphone shows up when plugged; nothing shows up with 3.5mm headphone
  9. Attached in audio_troubleshoot.zip
Additional info:
I followed the guide back in November, 2017 (been very busy) and bought following parts:
  • ASUS ROG STRIX Z270E GAMING LGA 1151 ATX Intel Motherboard (audio: ALC1220)
  • Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake 4.2 GHz LGA 1151
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW 8GB
  • Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 32GB 2 x 16GB DDR4-2400
  • Samsung 850 EVO 1TB 3D V-NAND SATA 3.0 6.0 GB/s 2.5" Internal SSD
  • Corsair RMX Series RMX750 750 Watt 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
I then followed this guide (UniBeast: Install macOS Sierra), followed the Post Install with MultiBeast 9.2

These were my attempts with MultiBeast 9.2:

First attempt (audio only through USB headphone):
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > ALC1220

Second attempt (audio only through USB headphone):
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > ALC1220
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > 100 / 200 Series Audio

Third attempt (identify audio jack in motherboard; no audio, and no audio through USB headphone):
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > ALC1220A (ASUS ROG STRIX only)
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > 100 / 200 Series Audio

I don't know how to resolve this issue. I would like to connect my headphones and speakers to the motherboard. Thank you.

Edit notes: Updated post to reflect the Problem Reporting guide. Thanks P1LGRIM!

For assistance with Audio you should post in the Audio forum.
Read the 'sticky' guides first and be sure to comply with the Problem Reporting instructions or you will not get any help.

Thank you for pointing me to the right direction. I've edited my post to reflect the Problem Reporting instructions.

Attached config.plist does not show ALC1220A selection, shows ALC1220
Missed 3rd selection, see High Sierra - MultiBeast Audio

I can run MultiBeast 10.2 on Sierra (10.12.6) to install the drivers? I was under the impression that it was for High Sierra only. I don't see the third option in MultiBeast 9.2.1.

If I run MultiBeast 10.2 with the current drivers, do I only have to:
  1. MultiBeast > Drivers > Audio > RealtekALCxxx
    1. √ 200 / 300 Series / X299 Audio Device ID Patch
  2. Build
  3. Install
  4. Restart
or
  1. MultiBeast > Drivers > Audio > RealtekALCxxx
    1. √ ALCxxx (As above)
    2. √ 100 / 200 / 300 Series Audio
  2. Build
  3. Install
  4. MultiBeast > Drivers > Audio > RealtekALCxxx
    1. √ 200 / 300 Series / X299 Audio Device ID Patch
  5. Build
  6. Install
  7. Restart
Thank you.

Yes, 2nd choice.
Otherwise, see Quick Fix: Z370/200/X299/ Series Kaby Lake Audio and install one method.
Good afternoon,
Thank you for clarifying I can use MultiBeast 10.2 on Sierra. I'm editing this since I got some progress! When I first tried MultiBeast10.2, I installed the following first:
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > ALC1220
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > 100 / 200 Series Audio
Build, Install, then:
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx >200 / 300 Series / X299 Audio Device ID Patch
Restart

I got no audio. I tried again, but I tried the following instead:
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > ALC1220A (ASUS ROG STRIX only)
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > 100 / 200 Series Audio
Build, Install, then:
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx >200 / 300 Series / X299 Audio Device ID Patch
Restart

Now the ports are listed. I plugged my headphone to the green port, and didn't hear anything at first, until I select "Internal Speakers"...
green.png front.png
It works! I can hear music now, although why does the green port need to be selected as "Internal Speakers"? The front headphone port works as well (and identify as "Headphones"). Both ports were crackling at first, but I lowered the volume and seems fine. The USB headphone works as well! Need to get my speakers from storage, as well as to test the 5.1 surround sound. I want to thank P1LGRIM and toleda and for the support! Attached are the screenshots, and the updated IOReg, Clover config.plist, and DPCIManager boot log file. I'll update the results of further testing.
