I recently had some moderate issues with the 10.12.6 2018-004 security update. I had to remove/reinstall all my kexts in EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other.

I got everything except audio back afterwards. BT Audio works fine, but that's not a proper fix.

Now, after doing a little research, I don't know what to do. There is a lot of conflicting information for how to get audio working.

I've got a Dell XPS 9560 with the ALC298, layout-id 72 (as far as I understand). Some posts by @KNNSpeed say all I need is AppleALC and his ComboJack installer.

I followed the instructions (https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...b-ram-100-adobergb.224486/page-9#post-1539760), tried it, but couldn't get it to work. Audio device is not present in sound properties.

I'm using the latest AppleALC kext from https://github.com/acidanthera/AppleALC/releases
I'm using the VerbStub/Combojack stuff from the above linked post.

Where do I go from here?

Ok, I started going back to older versions of AppleALC and it looks like 1.2.7 is the latest I can use. Audio is working again.
