Just got a few new ASUS Z170 motherboards in for testing: the Z170 Deluxe, Maximus VIII Hero, and the Maximus VIII Gene. These systems aren't built out yet, but we figured we'd get some pictures up as soon as possible. Enjoy!

Please note LGA 1151 motherboards are NOT compatible yet with OS X as Apple hasn't released any new Macs with Skylake CPUs or 100 Series chipsets.

Oh, too bad, I wanted to order a Z170 motherboard with a processor Skylake for my first Hackintosh ... What to do? Wait even a little?

I would, and that's what tonymacx86 is stating. If you need a new system to run Windoze or some other OS, go for it. But, it maybe months before we can get the 100-series chipset motherboard and Skylake processor to work with either Yosemite or El Capitan. We'll have to see if an updated iMac comes out with the new chipset in the Fall.

Asus Z170 Deluxe looks like it would work well in a Pro video editing (photo or video) system
as you can go up to 64 GB of DDR4 ram and run a couple of 4K displays off of it. Even from
the integrated graphics. Now if Intel only made a 6 core I7 cpu for this chipset it would
be a great alternative to an X99 system. The I7-6700K does seem to perform on par with an
I7 Extreme 5820K CPU though. Let's hope for that Z170 based iMac to show up later this year. :)

As interesting as the ASUS Z170 motherboards are, the ASRock Extreme7+ is the one that peaks my interest... check it out at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157627

With a couple of Samsung SM951s in a RAID 0 (if that is possible), 32 GB memory and a i7-6700K and maybe a near top of line GTX GPU...

Well it is something to think about. At present I can only dream about as I am still in the relocation phase of my downsizing project and my new office/lab/garage is just taking shape.

Good modding,
neil

I have the Maximus VIII Hero. Definitely plan on getting this dual booting. Currently just running windows 10 for gaming.

I think ill be getting the z170 Deluxe for that on board wifi and bluetooth and those nice heat pipes.

If the WiFi is an Intel chipset, it won't work in OS X.
