Asus X299 - Support

Status
Not open for further replies.
I'm still on Mojave.

Edit:
Installed OcQuirks and boots smoothly but still has random Kernel Panic. looking forward to try OpenCore.
It would be great if you can share some guides and EFI to use.

Did you overclocked your CPU?

Hi Guys,

I've been build a perfect hack on Asus X299 Prime A under Mojave using KGP guide. Now I try with Asus X299 Prime Edition 30 with the same usb key install Mojave but install don't start, it's freeze on Apple logo.

All parameters in bios is the same according KGP guide.

All others components are exactly the same:

i9-9940X
128Gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200MHz c 16
Gigabyte Radeon RX Vega 64
SSD NVMe Samsung EVO Plus 500GB

Only motherboard change.

Any ideas?

I think you cannot use the same folder with two different mobos.

Now I try with Asus X299 Prime Edition 30
There are a few threads about this theme... unfortunately none of the refreshed X299 boards (48 PCIe-lanes with 109xx-CPU´s, up to 256 GB RAM) is booting, there is only one exception yet, and it´s a Gigabyte: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/gigabyte-x299x-catalina-support.288625/

There is not even one X299X from MSI, Asrock and ASUS which is able to boot Mojave or Catalina.
Maybe here we can see some progress: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/asrock-x299-creator.292400/

Yes, now I see the BIOS for Asus X299 Prime Ed 30 is not the same. But You can boot X299 Prime A, Prime De Luxe and others X299 Prime with the same key install cause this boards have the same bios and same chip.

I will change the board on Amazon...

I will change for Prime DeLuxe II, it's seems old X299....

Hi, following KPG's guide I installed MacOS Mojave on my new machine.
This is the configuration of my new system:

CPU: Intel i9 7980XE (liquid metal)
CPU Cooling: Corsair H150i Pro RGB 360mm
Motherboard: Asus X299 TUF Mark 1 (BIOS Ver. 1503)
RAM: G.Skill 16GBx8 3200
GPU: Powercolor Vega 56 Dragon
PSU: Silverstone 1500W Platinum
CASE: Phanteks Primo

A lot of storage, but Mojave is installed in a 128GB Apple NVME taken from a MacBook Pro I own (which I substituted with a larger one).

Following the steps I got everything working quite smoothly, but once a day the system freezes.
Hereafter the report I have access to after booting back to MacOS.
It seems to be CPU related, can anybody help me here?

Hi there, newbie here :)

I'm almost finished with my build but have 2 major problems, I could really use some help on..
I've followed this guide :

1...
My Titan Ridge thunderbolt card isn't working...It's installed in slot 2 and is seen in the bios but not in IO registry..It's connected with the thunderbolt header but no usb2 header (no usb 2 header on my motherboard)..

I haven't configured any SSDT file yet but the card should still be seen right ?

2..
I'm using the bios settings in this post..when I move on to boot Mac Osx I can't access the Bios any longer..

I've attached my EFI folder and IORegistry file..

I really hope someone can't help me get across the finish line..

Thanks so much
Andy

I'm using the bios settings in this post..when I move on to boot Mac Osx I can't access the Bios any longer..

In my experience, it can be caused by enabling the Above 4G decoding option. This option is sometimes needed, so it's very annoying if you have to CMOS reset and then reload a preset in order to change anything.

I think somebody on X299 said it was something else, for them, though.

Thanks for your reply kylec... I troubleshooted the bios thing yesterday, taking one option at the time..And that actually did it for me..Keeping to the recommended setting but taking one at the time made it possible to access the bios in the end as well..So now I only have my thunderbolt issue left...

Thunderbolt has ever been an hassle, you should try and retry using infos you can found on this site. I don't have TB.

So..,

my Asus Arez Strix Radeon Vega64 died several weeks ago. So I RMA'd it back to Asus for repair. I've been using a Radeon RX590 since and it has been perfect for my needs.

Asus sent me a new card to replace the bad one but I can't even get a boot screen. I tried pci slot 1 and then pci slot 3, no boot. I cleaned the connector pins and reseated the card but still no boot screen.

Has anyone experienced this problem? My RX590 is running fine. I would really like to be able to use the Vega64.
