v. 2002 and no patch at all but I think u need a newer bios since u r using a 10th gen CPU

XHCI is surely present in BIOS, the on/off switch I mean, google it for your bios version
AppleALC work flawless in OpenCore, really I don't know much anymore for clover, I ditched it a while ago
It was Above 4G Decoding disabled. If disabled XHCI and HDAU disappear.

My second system is almost identical to the first one (10980XE) that runs great.
The only difference being: the CPU on system 2 7980Xe and system 1 has 10980XE. Also in system 1 the 5700xt is the 50-anniversary edition and System 2 has the 5700XT Sapphire with the 3 fans.

I've used for the 7980XE the same OC built from system 1, I only changed the system sn id and TB ID.

This machine is lagging after the boot massively then it settles and working a bit better. When performing certain tasks I have random freezes ie when moving the window of a finder around or trough watching youtube clips. Same after the screensaver when prompting the password has massive lags, then it goes back to normal.

I've attached the EFI, anyone has any idea why this could be? I wonder if the 7980xe needs an id or something I messed doing.

System 2 Specs:
CPU: i9 7980XE MB:
WS-X299-SAGE (base, not 10G)
GPU: 5700XT Sapphire Nitro
RAM: Corsair CMW128GX4M8C3200C16 RGB Pro 128GB (8 x 16GB) DDR4 3200 MHz C16 XMP
TB: GC-TITAN RIDGE (flashed fm50, working good)
NVME: 2X 500GB Evo 970 (1x for win 10, 1X for mac)
Blackmagic Mini 4k (HD &SDI)
6x 4TB HGTS (20Tb Raid)
OWC Express 4M2 Thunderbolt 3 (4X 2TB EVO 970)
Solarflare SFN5122F Dual-Port 10GbE SFP+

This machine is a video editing rig so I need it optimised to work properly.

If anyone knows anything that I could try to fix that would be great!

Thanks,

Thanks,

I got your same identical issues and haven't figured out anything. Lags at boot and wake from sleep for a few seconds then everything goes smooth + Address Book and FaceTime sluggish when just booted the system but ok after a wake from sleep. 9980XE + Radeon VII here, really dunno if it's hack related or Catalina related 'cause these issues started with 10.15.4 and now on 10.15.5 but everything worked flawlessly with 10.15.0/1/2/3

Maybe we should downgrade to a 10.15.3 :))

On my one even after a while, Youtube is awful, lagging massively.

I wonder if this step should be covered from kpg's, attached in the picture.

that is cosmetic and isn’t required

It's weird that 95% same built, the one with 10980Xe works perfectly tho. No lags.

I wonder if then it could be the GPU built. Not being the original AMD one like in system 1.

Some things to check and/or try:
1. Double check BIOS settings are same.
2. Disable WhateverGreen.kext
3. Both running BIOS 3101 patched and MSR Lock disabled? Try running BIOS 2002 (non patched) on 7980XE with MSR Lock disabled in BIOS and SSDT-AWAC.aml disabled in config.plist.
4. Try putting GPU in 10980XE build in 7980XE build.

1. I got these issues with and without WEG
2. I'm running 9980XE on 2002 unpatched MSR disabled and without AWAC aml
3. I only got a Radeon VII reference

Let me know if something changes swapping GPU, I think it's driver related with VEGA or NAVI in Catalina 'cause issues started with 10.15.4 which is the build where apple devs concentrated efforts on video drivers and it's known even real macs have issues with gpu acceleration (read about somewhere) systemwide, so it affects Facetime (GPU acceleration for video codec) and Safari (YouTube codec decode).

This might not be a good solution but it seems stable for now, no lags. I mean there is a bit of a slow start after password about 15-20s but then it's quite stable and no lags.

1. I've updated the system to 10.15.5 (the new update is out, went smooth with 3 restarts with OC)
I had fewer lags within the system at this point but Youtube was still messing around.

2. I changed in bios the following:
/AI Tweaker/
AVX Instruction Core Ratio Negative Offset: "8"
AVX-512 Instruction Core Ratio Negative Offset: "12"
CPU Core Ratio: Sync All Cores

Here are the temps:
Idle CPU temp 32-33°C
Under full load 70-72°C

Cinebench R20 is scoring higher from 7100 points when it was set to auto and no offsets, now to 8499 points.

Still under patched bios version 3101.

I will now give it a go with bios 2002 default settings in AI Tweaker
