ASUS Prime A320I-K — Ryzen 7 5700X — RX 580 — Ventura Public Beta

Successfully installed Ventura Public Beta on my AM4G5 build. First!, we need an installer, open gibMacOS and press 'C' to change the catalog, on the next screen select '1' for Public, macOS Ventura beta 13.0 (22A5295i) will be at the top of the list, select it to download. it will take some time to download so perhaps take @Edhawk s advice and go walk the dog!, or just make a mug of tea. Once downloaded, open up your gibMacOS-master folder and look for the macOS Downloads, inside you should find the InstallAssistant.pkg, double click it!. This will prepare the installer and put it in the Applications folder.

Creating the USB installer, I like to use 16GB Sandisk Cruzer Blades, I have six of them strewn across the desk, this one has... First you should open Disk Utility and erase the drive you're using for the installer, give it a memorable name, (you'll need it in the next step). Select Mac OS Extended (journaled) as the format and click erase. Once complete, quit Disk Utility and open Terminal. Copy/paste the following code in the terminal window, remember to replace 'USBname' with the name you christened your USB installer in Disk Utility.

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Ventura\ beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/USBname --nointeraction

Take this opportunity to maybe walk the dog... again!. Terminal will let you know when the installer is ready.

I really want to thank @CaseySJ for updating my OpenCore folder from 0.8.1 to 0.8.2, I bow before you. For Ventura Public Beta though we need to do some more updates. As this is an AMD build with MacPro7,1 system definition I'm not using WhateverGreen, you should update all the kexts in your EFI to the 'Latest Release', all of which can be reached in the link below, grab OpenCore 0.8.3 while your at it!.

Enjoy!. One thing I immediately noticed was the better performance from my RX580, scoring between 3000-4000 points more in Ventura than Monterey according to GB5.

My Sapphire Pulse RX580 8GB card Metal score earlier this evening was 50581 & just now 52520.




The average for my RX580's is between 50K-54K which is significantly higher than the score you posted above.

8 GB, pretty much the same score as the MacPro7,1 in GB5.

My MSI RX580 with 8GB on Asus Z690i with Intel i5-12600K just scored about the same (36000 to 37000) on Metal in GeekBench 5 with Ventura Public Beta.

I'm no longer disappointed with the performance of my RX 580. @Edhawk where did you find those scores?.

They are the scores I get when testing one of my systems using an RX580. They are from my GeekBench account, I usually save the results generated in the app, to my GB account so I can compare any changes.

I have the full versions not the trial versions of GeekBench 3 & 5. So the app gives me an option to save them to my account when publishing the results.

Those are the score they reach with no extra kexts, patches or other 'Fixes'. All three of them perform the same.

I have 2 x Powercolor Red Devil RX580's and 1 x Sapphire Pulse RX580. They all have similar, never identical scores. Background apps can make small differences, but not to the extent we are seeing comparing 50K+ scores to your 37K scores.

Your EFI looks fine.

The config.plist contains a number of unnecessary entries that your AMD system would never use or require. But other than that it looks good. A copy of the cleaned up config.plist is attached, so you can see what I mean about unnecessary entries.
