ASUS PCE-AC66 Sierra Problems

Status
Not open for further replies.
Guess I am going to install Yosemite or Mavericks on a external drive, if it works better I suppose I'll just use that, even if it isn't 100% wifi speed it will be better than 5kbps.

Unless someone has a idea or patch different from this one, that forces Sierra to turn the card on.

At the login screen it was on and saw networks, login and it turned off, since then I have not been able to replicate that much.

Oddly the kext I am using now seems to have been replaced by SIP to the original, but wifi is working and dreadfully slow.

Maybe if I were to delete some files to remove the settings it would fix itself. (Not sure what the files are called, but I am thinking of it like how it used to be to force rebuild of the kext cache)

I had a thought, maybe this patch didn't work because I am running 10.12.3, could that be the reason?

Edit:
Just looked in the original kext Contents>MacOS file for AirPortBrcm4360.kext and the patches find content are there, so the stock kext should work perfectly fine with this., But it did not... Wifi will not turn on.

ok some how this worked to get ac going, but n is still slow as dirt...

using the Yosemite kext mentioned here
https://www.******.com/r/hackintosh/comments/40md3n/broadcom_bcm4360_stuck_at_status_off/

the kexts mentioned by Twixes in post #2 created by RehabMan.

also these patches, I have my card recognized as airport and connecting to wireless ac on Sierra 10.12.3, to actually finally see an ac network I had to create one from my hackintosh and let wifi scan for a bit, then it saw my network and I simply disconnected from my created ac network and connected to my home network.

I am downloading about 90mbps slower than in windows 10, if this patch sticks I think it will be very helpful for others with the Asus PCE-AC66 (BCM43600) on Sierra at least.

One issue that was discovered, if the ac network is disconnected from you will have to repeat the process of creating a network, scanning networks, disconnect from created and connect to the network you want.

as of now I am satisfied to finally have fast internet that isn't 5kbps.

not bad for a nub with google and trial and error if I say so myself XD

I will be trying the original Sierra kext with these patches tomorrow to see if it still works or better (preferably better).

at the moment I cannot enable airdrop, seems that airdrop decided to be the same channel and it causes a conflict with internet, but maybe will be fixed if using the stock Sierra kext works out.

the second and third patch were found here

It seems to be working very stable. You don't need to paste any kexts into the clover "other" directory or into "10.12".

If you have these, DISABLE them:

  1. Name: AirPortBrcm4360
    1. Find: 58540020 17272000 00
    2. Replace: 5854001b 67319500 09
  2. Name: AirPortBrcm4360
    1. Find: 81f952aa 00007529
    2. Replace: 81f952aa 00006690
I believe you should end up having these:

  1. KextsToPatch
    1. Name: AirPortBrcm4360
      1. Find: 4183fcff 742c48
      2. Replace: 66c70655 53eb2b
    2. Name: AirPortBrcm4360
      1. Find: 4d61632d 43364546 41363339 36324643 36454130
      2. Replace: 4d61632d 32374144 42423742 34434545 38453631
  2. Acpi
    1. (This one is for changing country code — in my case to the US = 55 53) Comment: AirPortBrcm4360
      1. Find: 4183fcff 742c48
      2. Replace: 66c70655 53eb2b

Install RehabMan's FakePCIID.kext and FakePCIID_Broadcom_WiFi.kext (download from RehabMan's Bitbucket) using cVad's Kext Utility (download from cVad's website).
Then use mackie's Clover Configurator (download from mackie's website), mount ESP and edit the main config.plist. Enter the "Kernel and Kexts Patches" section and add the following 2 patches under "KextsToPatch":

1. Name = AirPortBrcm4360
Find = 81F952AA00007529
Replace = 81F952AA00006690
Comment = AirPortBrcm4360 fvco, 10.12, credit the-darkvoid

2. Name = AirPortBrcm4360
Find = 31DB4C3B7DD87512
Replace = 31DBFFC390909090
Comment = AirPortBrcm4360 whitelist patch (board-id), 10.12, credit RehabMan

Reboot. WiFi should work now.
Thanks, worked for my ASUS PCE-AC68.
