Hardware:
  • Motherboard: Asrock Z690 Extreme
  • CPU: Intel 12700K
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX580 4Gb
  • Optional: Fenvi BCM94360NG WiFi/BT NGFF M.2 Key A/E Module
  • RAM: G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4 3600 16GB
  • SSD: WD Black SN850 500GB SSD NVMe M.2
  • Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black
  • Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G5, 80 Plus Gold 850W
First Steps:
  • Update BIOS to 9.04 Version.
  • Load UEFI defaults in BIOS, and change this values:
    • OC Tweaker > DRAM Configuration > Load XMP Setting > XMP 2.0 Profile 1
    • Advanced > USB Configuration > XHCI Hand-off > Enabled
    • Secure Boot > Disabled
  • Create the USB install media (not the scope of this post)
  • Add the Platform info for ImacPro1,1 through Opencore Configurator or PlistEditor.
  • Press F11 at startup an select the USB (For an easy installation you can enter BIOS (Supr key) and select USB to load at first position on UEFI startup)
  • Select install Macos Ventura, follow the installation process.

HS14 is for the BCM3460NG M2 Key, for Wifi & Bluetooth, in case you use this you will have to unmount the MB cover to plug the antenas (not included with this bundle), also if you use M2_2 port you will lost one SATA port (SATA3_7 more info on the manual), but you'll still have 7 more.

HS02 & HS03 are only type 2 because are going to be used only for the mouse and keyboard. And 9 USB conectors are ready to work in total, trough the HS08/SS08 an ASM 107x device are two.

HS13 is for the LED control, in case you use activate it in USB map, the light is fixed in one colour. So is best for its work to be forgotten by MacOS.

In case you want to use a FENVI T919 PCI Card, you can add, changing HS11 for the right port you plug the Bluetooth cord:

Code:
<key>HS11</key>
<dict>
<key>UsbConnector</key>
<integer>255</integer>
<key>name</key>
<string>HS11</string>
<key>port</key>
<data>
CwAAAA==
</data>
</dict>

Benchmarks:

Not bad, mostly the same in Windows 11:

This is based on the help of many people from the forum, in special thanks to @CaseySJ @bootmacos @miliuco @Edhawk & @etorix

Tech advise:
Alcid=7 is OK, number 1 also works but there are issues with headphones
Last Opencore Version = 0.8.4
It works in MacOS Monterey too

Congratulations!!! Excellent machine. Enjoy it.

Thank you for the post. I am glad to know ASRock Z690 Extreme, the beautiful board is working fine.

I found that the on-board USB mapping is very similar to that of my Z690 Steel Legend. Seeing the SL's USB map, I guess that the inner pins in USB_3_4 and USB_1_2 are assigned to HS10 and HS12, respectively, and USB_3_7_8 is assigned to HS08/SS08 through the built-in hub (ASM107x).

Yes, they are pretty much the same Motherboard, aprox. same prize too. Depends on the abailability on your country / region.

Very good results on your build w/ the 12900K !!!

Hi! Could I ask you a favour? Could you post you Metal GeekBench5 score?

I just built a "similar" (Z690 motherboard) system and I don't know why my RX580 gets much lower score than on my old Z490 system!

Thanks
