Hi Guys,

I got this new computer, the main purpose is to use it on windows / linux, but i will love to try (as a secondary HD) to install High Sierra here.

So this is the setup:

Asrock x299 Taichi CLX.
128gb ram
Cpu Intel 10980
Gpu 1080ti.
M.2 ready to install high sierra

I will be trying to install later today. I am a little bit worried because I did not find to much information about the MB, but i will be doing my best to make it work!

If any one want to give some advice or tips for my installation (drivers, kext, dsdt, config etc) will be appreciate it!!!

I will be sharing here my progress.!
Thank you All.

graphics won't work on Mojave or Catalina

I checked out that motherboard recently. I like it! It's not too expensive, but has a good PCI-e slot configuration. You can run two GPUs at full bandwidth and still have enough lanes for dual NVMe and a Thunderbolt card. Plus there's a PCH connected slot for wifi. Some of the cheaper boards don't provide that.

One thing to note is that only the Intel LAN is supported, not the 2.5G one.

You'r right.! is a good one.

--------------

I doubt that the Cascade Lake support (MacPro7,1) is present in anything older than 10.15.2.

With High Sierra or Mojave, you could try to run it as iMacPro1,1, but it might require a fakeid for the CPU. Nobody knows yet! This is the only post I've seen, so far: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/asus-x299-catalina-support.279556/post-2052117

Got it. lets try, I will be posting shortly my update, and thank you for the advice!

After a few hours trying here my progress:

I setup my BIOS as much as i could. attached some pictures.

I used a usb 2.0 on a 2.0 usb slot

I used unibeast for high sierra, without modifying anything, the installer get stuck on [PCI Configuration Begin].

After a few boot arguments -dont remember exactly- ( npci=0x2000 pciRootuid=0 dark=0 among othersss.) the installation get stuck on ApFs module start : 1279.

I did something that maybe was bad but I install a newer version of clover (than the unibeast) in this case clover2.5 r5090 suppose to help... So i added again boot flags, plus setup the machine as @kylec recomend as a Imac pro1.1.
After restart got a similar problem, then change the FakeCpuId to skylake H... did not start.. then changed to skylake

After that I did one of the guides of RehabMan of DSDT, and we move on to a different problem.( ~ I think so ~)
AppleNMVe and (SuperIODevice: [Fatal] found unsupported chip!)

Here again some spec of the machine.

cpu: 10980
MB: Asrock x299 CLX
G: 1080ti
SSD: samsumg 500gb
m2: nvme 1tb.

Attached some pictures.
Any clue where should i walk>? i will be trying again in a few more days.

Although the CLX part is new, this is still an X299 machine. Look over this guide:

For instance, the npci=0x2000 is already in there, and it has the info you need on VoodooTSCSync and possibly other things as well.

After a few hours trying here my progress:

I setup my BIOS as much as i could. attached some pictures.

I used a usb 2.0 on a 2.0 usb slot

Any clue where should i walk>? i will be trying again in a few more days.

I took a look at your post and EFI folder:
- ACPI/Patched : the DSDT.aml does not seem appropriate and can hang on booting.
- config.plist : several errors not in accordance with the guide.
- DRIVERS / EFI : some drivers must be removed/replaced
- Kexts/others : for installation all sensors kexts must be removed and the XHCI kext from another Mobo too.

So as @kylec told you : read carefully these guides : https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...c-pro-successful-build-extended-guide.229353/ and iMac Pro X299 - Live the Future now with macOS 10.14 Mojave [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

In the EFI folder :
- the config.plist : I adapted with minimal ACPI replacement, without PR replacement, without npci=0x2000 ( for a try) may be to add npci=0x2000 if hang at pci configuration begin
- in KernelToPatch : there are xcpm_core_scope_msrs and xcpm_pkg_scope_msrs to allow wrightable MSR Ex02 register so at first boot try with CFGlock enable in bios
- in ACPI /patched : just the 3 required SSTs to boot : you can complete later
- Drivers : just some modification
- Kexts/Other : I added X299SATA.kext, XHCI-X299-series-injector.kext, USBinjectAll.kext

This EFI folder may help you to start in the right way but the Asrock x299 CLX is new and comes with others X299X mobos, therefore, you will need to make several adjustments before a successful installation on High Sierra with the GTX 1080 Ti ( I can boot with these settings on my Gigabyte X299 Ultra Gaming Pro build on High Sierra).

To the next ! ;)
