Success! Z270X-UD5, i7700K, Samsung 960 EVO NVMe M.2, Vega Frontier Edition, OSX WiFi/BT card. Everything OOTB. High Sierra is going to be a major improvement!

How is that Vega working? OpenCL Geekbench and Luxmark scores?

Can you see the boot screen when booting?

I see the BIOS, Clover, and the macOS kernel when booting. Boot to black screen is fixed.

I'll edit this post once I run OpenCL. BruceX averaged 12.47 seconds over three runs.

Edit: Geekbench 4.1.1 OpenCL returns immediately. Luxmark returns a compile error. I do see this OpenCL result:

Edit 2: Under Windows (sorry) I get 202014 for Geekbench OpenCL and 22,785 for Luxmark 3.1 luxball.

If that Luxmark score is around the same in OSX that's a good score!

I wonder if my 430 watt PSU can handle it.. rather not upgrade.

I investigated further. Geekbench OpenCL and LuxMark v3.1 worked in High Sierra PB2 but not PB3. Others tested in PB2, see http://browser.geekbench.com/v4/compute/926837.

OpenCL is 172,191 (Windows 17% faster)
LuxMark v3.1 LuxBall 19,851 (Windows 15% faster)

I'm using a Corsair AX760 power supply. AMD recommends 850W. I don't suggest using a 430W PSU.

Also as others suggested: wait for RX Vega. It will cost less. Wait for High Sierra release - drivers could change.

If anyone has PB2 they can share with me please let me know! I only have PB3 but I want to run the benchmark. I will update this thread with future betas.

I'm expecting improvements here. OSX should match or even beat Windows in OpenCL. Would you agree?

I'm hoping for improvements, but I'm not sure what to expect. It's a very good question, perhaps others can weigh in.

I'd file Vega (and High Sierra both generally and with respect to Vega) as-- looking good.

But as we've seen time and time again, final releases and point releases and annual updates can all remove functionality and compatibility-- even from functional betas.

Any updates on anything, AppleADay or anyone else?

My Strix R9 380X gets about 51% of these numbers. Both LuxMark and Geekbench Compute. This is confusing to me, Vega 64 should beat it by lots more. Why is this?
