And the exact reason why I got a new macbook pro for a desktop replacement, they are blazingly fast, I'm about to drop a 512gb ssd and 16gb into mine.

I do like the look of the new mac mini server. Specs have got me salivating. However, still very happy with the Mac Pro and Macbook Pro (2008- late) with it's 6 gig of ram (still can't believe that- 6 gigs in a 4 year old C2D laptop- I mean, windows 7 supports 3 gigs in 32bit mode- something that disappeared near the middle of last decade)

I have a i7 3770k built into a UP5-TH board as per Alfa147's build. It's fab. At 3.5GHz it does about 14,500 on Geekbench 64-bit. I tried it at 4.5GHz the other day and got something like 16,800. It's on the Geekbench archive under "Cruel_Brit".

Great job on this site Tony btw. Fabulous.

Next project is to set up an archiving system using a mix of local drives and Amazon S3 + Amazon Glacier and Arq. Will try to write something if I get it working.
