Can anyone tell me how to fix this error? I tried dozens of methods of installing either SL or Lion retail, with xMove, iBoot etc. I always have this error. I'm trying to install Mac on my Samsung QX510 laptop, here are the specs:

Well, can you tell us what you tried....using iBoot as this forum is for iBoot/MultiBeast method and we can best help you if you are using that.

Did you try NullPowerManagement kext?

Disables AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext to prevent kernel panic without proper HPET DSDT edits. Installed in /Extra/Extensions. Install with System Utilities tasks.

Tell us, starting with BIOS, HDD formatting, install and MultiBeast selections, post screenshot of error text and what version you are trying to install.

I know this is asking a lot, but can you guide me on the first steps on how to install SL? I have the latest iBoot on a cd, and a Retail 10.6.3 DVD. What now? I'm not a total noob, I'm just a noob at Mac stuff.

There are a number of guides that outline all the steps such as:

http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/ ... -x-on.html

Please carefully read through it before starting....if you have a problem, then add to this thread and we will try to help you.

I see you have been at this a while and can install 10.6.3

viewtopic.php?f=34&t=16652&p=106271&hilit=samsung+qx510#p106271

And I see you have posted elsewhere....I couldn't find a successful install for this model, so what I suggest is you get 10.6.3 working 100% documenting what you are doing, make a bootable backup copy so you can revert to that point....maybe make 2 partitions so you can CarbonCopyCloner one onto the other if it gets hosed during upgrading. Then I would upgrade to 10.6.7 instead of directly to 10.6.8.

Great, thanks for the help. I was going to ask how to make a clone of my working vanilla install so that I wouldn't have to go through it again.

One more question, how to make a bootable usb stick with the latest iBoot, and add NullPowerManagement.kext to extras?

You are welcome.

Download a copy of CarbonCopyCloner, it will clone your drive. That should save you a bit of trouble re-installing.

Bootable USB stick with iBoot? Well iBoot probably contains some version of NullPowerManagement, that is why it boots. If you are talking about a Snow Leopard USB drive that contains iBoot....installing Chimera and running MultiBeast should be able to give you 100% of the iBoot functionality. If you put iBoot and Snow Leopard on the same stick, you might need to put them on two different partitions as I am not sure that iBoot will show the partition it is on as a bootable OS too.

You might want to search for a guide on making a USB stick on the fourms.
