AppleHDA Realtek Audio [Guide]

Missed a very important step; kext cache rebuilt, then restart. Audio working

Sorry if this is a beginner question, but I am not sure what you mean by kext cache rebuilt. I answered yes to all three question in the script, when it told me the process was finished then I restarted. What else am I suppose to do? Reading post number 1 I dont understand if I missed a step or not...

Real problem, see MultiBeast Audio Failure [Solved] (sticky)
For 10.13.2 Update, no boot; all other effected updates, no audio

thanks for your reply. let me get this straight:

1. Install update
2. run cloveralc
run
sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions && sudo kextcache -u /
to rebuild kext cache.
3. reboot.

are these the steps? I went through the first post again and I don't see any mention of the command the rebuild kext cache so I want to make sure its the right command. don't want to be stuck again.

1. Install update
2. run cloveralc
run
sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions && sudo kextcache -u /
to rebuild kext cache.
3. reboot.

are these the steps?
No. Those steps result in boot failure.

1. Install update
2. Terminal: sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions && sudo kextcache -u /
to rebuild kext cache.
3. reboot

Edit: 1/24/18: 10.12.3 update, no change to audio; do not run cloverALC

Hi Toleda,

Update to 10.13.3 today (Z97MX-gaming5- with alc1150)
using combo update (and tried appstore also)
follow these steps:

1. Install update
2. Terminal: sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions && sudo kextcache -u /
to rebuild kext cache.
3. reboot
4. run cloveralc (audio_cloverALC-130_v0.4.command)
5. reboot

stuck on apple logo, no boot :(

retried (reinstalling combo) removing clover patches and realtekALC.kext before (in clover/Others), tried the script with and without HDMI patch (y/n)...
still stuck boot logo.

Never had problem before updating the script, if you have an idea...i'm lost :idea:

I essentially am running into the same issue as you. Quite busy right now so haven't had a chance to post. I noticed if I played around with library/extension (Ie, remove fakepciid.kext) it will boot. But once I run the cloveralc script and reboot it will hang again at boot. After that, if I put fakepciid.kext in again from my working partition, it will boot up again! But once I run cloveralc it will stop booting again right at the same spot when I check in verbose mode. do I need fakepciid and intel audio hdmi kext from rehabman if I use cloveralc? Why is the script making it non boot :(

I removed fakesmc from library/extensions and only have it in the other folder as described in update if that matters.

stuck on apple logo, no boot
This is not an audio problem; no need to remove kexts and patches. Do not run cloverALC to fix audio; it is not broken. There are no changes to AppleHDA.kext (10.13.2 or 10.13.3).

Lots of reasons for a boot problem; "stuck on Apple logo" is not helpful.

Clover boot options, select Verbose. Reply with image of boot failure.

Audio does not work because of kext cache problem.
System won't boot because of kext cache problem.
There is no reason to run cloverALC after the 10.13.3 update.

Try:
1. Install update
2. Terminal: sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions && sudo kextcache -u /
to rebuild kext cache.
3. reboot

If no audio, see Post #1, IV. Problem Reporting.

Thanks very much! I ended up redoing the entire process, combo update from 10.13.1 to 10.13.3. after kext rebuild, it seems audio is back to normal now! thanks thanks thanks thanks. I just blindly applied cloveralc because the 10.13.3 page advised to apply cloveralc to fix audio if not working, not knowing about the kextcache rebuild...

I guess the below is a standard copy and paste? maybe if we could consider updating it so newbies like me will have an easier time...

:ch: Upon rebooting into Sierra, you can:
:ch: Check to see if your audio is working. If not, use toleda's CloverALC130 script & your audio should be OK,
:ch: (Optional) Update to the latest version of Clover,

What i did:

1. Install update
2. Terminal: sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions && sudo kextcache -u /
to rebuild kext cache.
3. reboot

Not booting. (i forgot again to boot verbose to check, sorry)

then (restore my clone):

1. Install update
2. run Kext utility v2.6.6
3. reboot

Booting fine.

i don't know why "sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions && sudo kextcache -u /"
didn't work, but Kext utility worked.

Thanks
