I have the same mobo as you, I installed all... the latest Mojave, High Sierra, Sierra etc, etc.....
I think it supports ALC889

Internal Speakers
Line out Audio line-out port
Line out Audio line-out port

Those 3 outputs are required for analog 5.1:
Internal Speakers: Front L/R
1st Line out: Center/Sub
2nd Line out: Side L/R

Internal Speakers/Lime Green - no audio

Try layouts 2 and 3, confirm Internal Speakers/Lime Green working

Retested ALC892 (9 Series-1), ALCS1220A (300 Series-1), latest AppleALC (post #1) - audio all good on lime green ports:

Retested ALC887 (9 Series-2) with latest AppleALC (post #1) - lime green port:
layout = 2 - no audio
layout = 3 - good audio

I got it all working as you mentioned with layout 1
