Apple security update 2017-001 changes build number disabling nvidia driver - Driver updated!

    I wasn't sure if it was going to be an issue but sure enough after you apply the security update and restart (it donesnt force a restart but dont be deceived) the nvidia driver does not load because the build is different. just a heads up; theres no driver update from nvidia at time of me writing this.

    *Update* Script provided in post #17 which will set the driver to use the new version and load correctly, until nvidia comes out with a proper update.

    *Update 2* Driver released! go ahead and check for updates in the Nvidia control panel and you should be all set!

    I setup a Frankenmac with an old MacPro 5,1 and without the nvidia driver loading I get ZERO video, had to VNC in. at least on the hackintosh the software driver would kick in...

    Regarding the fix: “And starting later today it will be automatically installed on all systems running the latest version (10.13.1) of all macOS High Sierra”

    That's going to be a problem until Nvidia comes out with an update. Maybe blocking the App Store's internet access will stop the auto-update.

    OMG, already installed update ;( so what next? waiting for Nvidia without restarting hack? There is no option to revert ;(
