I've been trying to get audio working on a p35 ds3l. I used applehdapatcher and now I've got some strange things going on. When I boot to OSx 10.6.8 with iboot everything is good and the sound is working.

If I try to boot directly without boot I get a kernel panic at applehda.

If I remove applehda.kext from the extensions it boots fine of course but no sound. None of the alc kexts in multi beast have worked (alc888).

I'm trying to understand why iboot would not kp, but the bootloader would. Thanks for any help.

So I'm trying again with the multibeast unified HDA. Under about this mac it shows two intel hd audio, the first has nothing and the 2nd seems to have everything I/O wise, but under audio in system preferences it just says no devices found.

Voodoo kexts all cause KP's. Audio still working just fine when I boot from the iboot CD, just not directly from the bootloader. Thanks for any help on this.
