3x faster then 4 cores is still 2x faster then 6 cores and at least equal to 8 cores keep in mind there is not an 8core intel Mac mini.
The 8 core Apple GPU will completely destroy the Intel UHD 630 graphics performance. That's the most impressive thing that I heard about the new mini. Even more energy efficiency is great for those Mac server farms that buy thousands of these at a time.

In typical Apple fashion, the ram and storage upgrade prices on Mac mini are rather excessive. $400 to go from 256GB to 1TB is four times too much IMO.
Yea but what does 6x faster then UHD630 mean? Is it as good at a RX560? 570? 580?

When running programs like Logic Pro and FCP X they might be. We'll have to wait to see what the YT channels that buy early and benchmark these say.

The 2020 Mac Mini has a very small logic board, most likely due to the M1 SoC that integrates the functions of several discrete components.

However, where are the DIMM slots? Some are suggesting that RAM is soldered to the main board; others are suggesting it's in the SoC (which seems unlikely).

It also appears that the maximum memory is limited to 16GB. There's no word on the speed and type of memory.

This looks like an iPad on the inside and a Mac Mini on the outside! :)

P.S. It's awesome that M1 not only includes Thunderbolt 3, but also a Neural Engine that can run TensorFlow at accelerated speeds.

The Memory is on the SOC unless the DRAM shown in the architecture is for some other use.

It's the system ram which only comes in 8GB or 16GB variations. Either 2x4 or 2x8. That's why there are only two choices for the amount of ram when ordering and it's not upgradable to higher amounts. With the 2018 mini Apple was seemingly trying to get pro users more interested in buying them. Now it looks as if they are aiming at Windows/ChromeOS switchers with the lower entry price and fewer I/O ports on the back, no 10 Gb ethernet option. Will be interesting to see if they shrink it down to Apple TV size with the next refresh.

Seems odd that in one of the other images they showed the Memory on the logic board so maybe the DRAM shown in the Chip layout is different.

I was under the impression that RAM is on the SoC too.

If you look at the image of the Logic board shown in Post #40 it shows it separate. But when you look at the Mac mini logic board there is no memory. :-/
