I built a machine i5-750 and it has been running SL just fine. I want to build the next machine using Ivy-Bridge soon. However, when I go to the App store, it won't let me purchase ML, saying my machine is not compatible. Is there any reason in the first place the App store thinks that my existing machine is not compatible and how to get around this restriction?

Just change your system definition it probably is reading that you have a 3-4 year old mac mini or something, all you have to do is use multibeast and change the smbios through selecting a newer system definition.

If this doesn't work then I would have to say you don't have much of an option as far as I know.

Tried last night to set the machine to the lastest iMac 12,2. Reboot the machine. App store still won't let me :( Anyone can list their setting to see which machine will definitely work?

It could be the fact that you are on first gen core i7 but I cant confirm this.

Does ML has a pre-requisite of Sandy bridge or later?
