Hey all,

I've been running into some issues with slow boot times and certain applications loading slowly (in comparison to other NVMe Mac systems with similar specs) since I built my Hackintosh. It sounds like it may be because I'm running APFS on my main boot drive. I also have a number of other drives in various formats (HFS+, exFAT, NTFS). I've read that running APFS along with other formats will cause fsck scan slowdowns, especially with booting. I'm hoping that I can figure out these problems somehow.

It seems like converting APFS back to HFS+ is kind of convoluted and may not be the best option. I also can't seem to tell if Mojave is better equipped to deal with APFS, or if there are new efi files that may help solve the performance issues. I could possibly convert my HFS+ drives to APFS, but I need something like exFAT still to transfer files between my Mac and Windows systems.

Any thoughts on the best way forward?

My build follows (an older version of) this guide:

Aorus 1080 Ti Waterforce (PCIe_1)
NVMe x 2 (1 in PCIe_3, one in m.2 slot)

Dual boot Windows 10

Should this go into another forum?
