AMD Radeon Navi GPU

I installed it but I haven't tried using iMacPro1,1 again. Might give it a whirl this weekend. If so, I'll report back.

I have done the same.. I'll keep you posted.

10.15.x is not changing anything with low level drivers like your GPU. You need to update to 11.0 to see improvements (and there are quite a few).

Ya, forget that.. Two crashes in 24hrs or so.. It was wishful thinking.

Good to hear that there might finally be light at the end of the tunnel.

Indeed. BS fixes a ton of weird issues on the install alone (like the white block on the top left of your screen as well as resolution drops). BS will no doubt have more optimizations for the Navi chips. I've only used it briefly but it felt very snappy and waking the display was a lot cleaner (mine flashes a few times before coming to life).

10.15.x likely stopped rolling in much as soon as most of the macOS engineers moved to 11.0.

Hi

Another update. I have moved on to Opencore and Big Sur. I installed the 5700XT and it's still crashing.. However, it does recover. Here are the logs:

Tried to move from Vega64 to Radeon PRO W5500 (navi). Catalina boots only with WEG with agdpmod=pikera. Without WEG system crashes during boot, without pikera mod i see just blank screen after boot. With W5500 cursor freezes every two seconds for a ~1/10s, which is very annoying. Yesterday i've tried to install Big Sur. Results are fully identical to catalina. Returned Vega64 back and currently don't know what to do with cursor lags :(

With the newest iMacs finally running 5700XT's stock (albeit the Pro version as mentioned in this thread) and BS running them better than Catalina it's great to have fully native Navi support looking real.

The downer for me is Big Navi coming out in a few days and not being able to upgrade to the latest GPU's for what, a year and a half again? :(

I installed the Big Sur beta but it doesn't fix the issue I'm having where my RX 5700 XT will not detect more than two displays. I've tried iMac19,1 and MacPro7,1 so far, and with the latter and no WG, I just get a black screen.

I tried MacPro7,1 + WD + agdpmod=pikera and three monitors work. But with cursor lags. Try adding pikera mod.
