AMD FirePro S7000 compatibility? Opencore/Monterey

Hi all,

I've been trying to get an AMD FirePro S7000 to work with Monterey and Opencore. My installation is stable using a 1060 (obviously not accelerated or functioning properly). I've got a load of S7000's from an old server and i'm trying to get them to work.

A similar card, the W7000 is listed as working natively a-la the guide. I figure these cards are the same hardware wise, just in a different form factor and with passive cooling.

The GPU straight in isn't working, and i've tried to create an SSDT to spoof it to a W7000 as I figure they're exactly the same hardware wise but different ID's, but I'm getting a black screen after the initial verbose output SSDT or not...

Any ideas? For reference the rest of the build is -
CPU - AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
Mobo - Gigabyte B450M DS3H

WiFi - Archer T5E

If anyone can see anything i've included something in my config or an SSDT to stop the S7000 working, or if my S7000 SSDT is wrong in general please let me know. If you've had any success with an S7000 please let me know!

Compare your EFI to mine for a A320I-K/Ryzen 7 5700X. I can't guarantee it will solve your GPU issue or weather it's compatible, But I think you have unnecessary kexts that you either don't need or, are not helping. I can Boot Monterey and Ventura with my EFI, @Middleman might have some suggestions to.

Thanks for this! I'll strip mine down and see if that helps. I have a feeling it might not, can I have a copy of your EFI to try straight out? I'll report back later today

Attached below, all serial info is blank so make sure to create new SMBIOS info and add it to the EFI. I'm using iMac19,1 but you might want to try MacPro7,1 or iMacPro1,1 for better compatibility with the S7000. You should also change the data value for the first three algrey patches, I left it at <B8080000 0000>, <BA080000 0000> and <BA080000 0090>. For the twelve core Ryzen 9 3900X, replace those data values with;

<B80C0000 0000>, <BA0C0000 0000> and <BA0C0000 0090>

Thanks for that! I made those three changes in the config and tried it, no luck, stragiht to black screen (but seems to be working, just no output). Also tried it with iMacPro1,1 and still no luck, this time it gets frozen on apfs_module_start... No one has been able to crack the S7000 yet and i don't think i'm knowledgable enough to solve it!

I've got a load of S7000's from an old server and i'm trying to get them to work.

If you can find a Radeon Pro WX4100, 5100, 7100 those three work OOB with Monterey. Should also work with Ventura later on for an upgrade. 3 very good workstation cards.

The FirePro S7000 is from the ATI Pitcairn family of graphics cards, i.e. HD7000 series. It has device ID 1002:6808, which probably isn’t present in the AMD kext in macOS.

If you were looking for a comparable desktop card the HD7870 would be close. This has a device ID of 1002:6810.
