Re: ALC899A not working [Solved]

It doesn't seem to work, although I have an entry on the about this mac

Code:
HD Intel Audio:

  ID device:	0x1458A102
  ID audio:	885
  Available devices:
  line-out:
connection:	Ficha de 1/8 de polegada
  external mic:
connection:	Ficha de 1/8 de polegada
  external mic:
connection:	Ficha de 1/8 de polegada
  Auscultador:
connection:	Ficha de 1/8 de polegada
  Output S/P-DIF:
  connection:	Combination
  Input S/P-DIF:
  connection:	Combination

I tried to translate most of it :p
What I did was, replace the DSDT, and then copying LegacyHDA.kext to the Extra folder. I also tried using kext helper but to no avail.

Okay..

MB - P55-UD6
CPU - COREi7 860
GPU - GTS250
HDD - SATA 320GB

Tony's multiple Tutorials helped me get to where I am.

Currently have VANILLA SNOW LEOPARD & WIN7 x64 (LEGIT)
Dual booting & Up To Date

Only thing that ain't working in SNOW LEOPARD is SOUND.

After reading this thread, in particular the last few posts I've realised I've also used the DSDT for the UD6.
Public/DSDT-GA-P55-UD6.aml

So will try the LEGACY kext from here
Public/HDEF%20 ... 20889a.zip

Let you know how it goes.

UPDATE: Havent tried the above yet but noticed this post.

http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2009/12/ ... n-p55.html

Got alot to try when I get home tonight.

If anyone has had success with UD6 let me know :)

Ok, let's try to break this down.

In the case of what I did, I installed the 889a kext with 4outs2ins HDA headphone and the AppleHDA.kext but this might not work for other boards, hence why there are four different files. Check how many outputs and inputs there are on the rear of your board and check if you've connected up the front audio ports on your case (I'd try the regular file if you don't have the front HDA connectors on your case connected UP or only have an AC97 type front audio connector).

Even though your motherboard might have the same Realtek 889A audio codec, it all works a little bit different depending on how the manufacturer of the board wired things up and if you have the front audio connectors plugged in to the usually little green connector on your motherboard.

If you're using the DSDT from here;
Public/DSDT-GA-P55-UD6.aml

It's got ALC 889a code in it, and should work with the files from here:
Public/HDEF%20 ... 20889a.zip

Okay on 10.6.2
Have used the p55BOOTCD with .aml from above to get here. So thanks Tony. Your a star. No need for me to edit my DSDT thanks to you and your sources.

As my DSDT has already been edited. I noticed this when trying to use tony's DSDTFix's.

So my DSDT is correct for my hardware.

At the moment
LEGACYHDA.KEXT go in /EXTRAS/EXTENSIONS
& HDAENABLER.KEXT go in /SYSTEM/LIBRARY/EXTENSIONS

No sound.

I have an ARMOR MX+ case & ontop there is 1in1out.
I think this is my problem.

To make sure its not can someone post a LEGACYHDA.kext that is compatible with APPLEHDA.kext 1.7 (10.6.2 VERSION)

If APPLEHDA.kext 1.7 is the problem can someone post the version that was in Tony's Snowleopard.zip as it isnt located in there anymore. From what I've read it was 1.6.

Or someone could just shoot me and put me out of my misery :(

Are you on the latest F7 bios? That should do the trick.

Will try that tonight. At work @ the moment.

Thanks for speedy response.

This has really taken over my life.

Update this thread after F7 install.

After I update bios which method do you suggest to get this working?
Keeping in mind I have APPLEHDA.kext from 10.6.2 and your custom DSDT.aml for UD6

Okay.
Updated BIOS for P55A-UD6(C) Rev 1.0.
Somehow that broke my SL install.

Tried to boot back into setup with help from bootcd.
Succeeded in entering Retail DVD setup but PC froze while trying to repair permissions on SL drive via Disk Utility. Don't ask me why I thought that would fix what was broke. Didn't succeed in even seeing if it would anyway.

So accepted my fate and am now reinstalling SL from Retail DVD using custom made bootcd for UD6.

See you on the other side.

UPDATE :

Back Online (MAC OSX 10.6.2 Bootable with VANILLA KERNAL)

- Network Up and Running via kext included in tonymacx86-snowleopard
- VideoCard Enabled via kext included in tonymacx86-snowleopard
- Chameleon installed via PC EFI 10.1 (I'll update to Beta once the Holy Grail is reached :)

- AUDIO Holy Grail... Bout to start working through this http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=140941&st=600&start=600

UPDATE 2 : 1ST Attempt
Took Tony's advice and used the LegacyHDA.kext from the link below as I am also used his UD6 BOOT CD with edited DSDT.

If you're using the DSDT from here;
Public/DSDT-GA-P55-UD6.aml

It's got ALC 889a code in it, and should work with the files from here:
Public/HDEF%20 ... 20889a.zip

Now when I go to SYSTEM PROFILER under 'AUDIO (Built-In)" I have this

Intel High Definition Audio:

Device ID: 0x1458A102
Audio ID: 885
Available Devices:
S/P-DIF Out:
Connection: Internal
Line Out:
Connection: 1/8-Inch Jack
External Microphone:
Connection: 1/8-Inch Jack
External Microphone:
Connection: 1/8-Inch Jack
Headphone:
Connection: 1/8-Inch Jack
S/P-DIF Out:
Connection: Combo
S/P-DIF In:
Connection: Combo

Though still no sound.

So now going to try work my way through kext and suggestions found here.
