Sup sup Tonymac community?

I'm a web-developer & a classic mac-user; I like to make things pretty and I used to ignore implementation. I'm on Hackintosh #3; I was awful at it, I'm getting better. For my last machine, I'd bought a FireWire Solo (http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_ca/FireWireSolo.html), and I also happen to have a Delta-44 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829121115).

But the firewire card I'd bought worked very intermittently, and for reasons I could never understand, when using the FW Solo everything lagged terribly and crackled when trying to record for more than maybe thirty seconds. Meanwhile the Delta 44 I never even got to try b/c my mobo was too small to fit both it and my graphics card. I'm completely sure this was all my own fault. Trying to remedy that this time.

Ideally, I'd like to just be using either or both of these devices; I'm just not sure how. If I can't, I'd like to buy something that lets me. The Delta 44 was was probably overkill for my needs. My new machine, which is on the way, is basically from the July buyer's guide:

Mobo: MSI Z97-Gaming 7 LGA 1150
Procesor: Intel Core i7-4790K
32GB 1600 RAM

Basically I want to plug my piano and my guitar and a mic into my computer, fire up Garage Band or Logic (depends on the mood) and get to work without friggin' around too much. All input hugely welcome & appreciated.

Hey thanks so much—I wasn't aware of either the resource you linked *or* that there was a music forum! Major help, I appreciate it. :)
