Hi all,

I think it's time for an upgrade. I've been a happy owner of Hacki since 2013. It never left me hanging but now I'm starting to work with bigger soundlibraries and I can't expand the ram so I thought it'd be a good time to upgrade the whole system. Actually to build a new and more powerful system with thunderbolt, which will allow me to work on my music without worrying about exceeding the limits of my computer. Could anyone please tell me if there are compatibility issues with the parts I've chosen for the new build? Has anyone build a machine like this one succesfully and has any tipps or suggestions for me?

Mobo: Gigabyte Motherboard Z170X Ultra Gaming (rev 1.0)
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050TI OC 4GB
CPU: i7 6700k 4GHz

SSD OS: Samsung 850 evo 500gb m.2
Th 3 to Th adapter: Startech TBT3TBTADAP

Planning to reuse following parts from my old build:

Wi-Fi: TP-LINK WLAN PCI Express Adapter (TL-WDN4800)
HDDs: WD Caviar 1.5 TB, Seagate 3TB
SSDs: Samsung Evo 850 1tb, Samsung Evo 850 500gb
Cooler: Corsair H80i Watercooler
Fans: Cougar Vortex 120mm x 2
Tower: Fractal Design Define R4
Bluetooth: Dual Mode Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter Mini Dongle High Speed USB 2.0 Stick BCM20702

OS and Software

Look forward to your feedback and suggestions!!!

You could also use the newer Kaby Lake I7-7700K and the GA-Z270X version of the mobo you've chosen. 10.12.6 has support for both of those now. If you want to stay with Skylake that will work too. New Kaby Lake features are mostly important for those that edit video. Make sure to do some research into the Thunderbolt compatibility of whichever motherboard you want to go with.
