I would like to use an old Dell case and power supply. Is this nuts? One problem right out of the gate is whether it is possible to connect the power/reset button on the case to any MB. The Dell box seems to have a little card and a multi pin connector to its main board. I don't know whether this is a standard. Probably not. Any experience to direct me? I have a choice of ATX or miniATX cases.

Otherwise, how do generic boxes connect a reset button to the MB? Does the box come with a connector, and does the MB have a specific mate for that?

The PSU might be a problem. The Haswell, Broadwell and Skylake processors have a lower idle voltage than earlier generation iCore processors. Unless you use a PSU that's rated for the 4th/5th/6th generation Intel processors, you're system will shut down unexpectedly.
