I have been trying to figure this issue out the past couple days. I updated and lost my audio... I've tried multibeast install of the 898 drivers and a few other guides (audio clover alc 110 command, applehda.kext, etc) without any success. I did see a post a couple days ago where I could reinstall Mavericks ontop of my current version and this might be my last resort.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm upgraded to 10.10.5 and everything was working prior to the update

Thanks,

I can't really help you sort the problem but I get round any sound issues by using an external USB sound card. My 7.1 surround system has worked flawlessly with no effort or kexts since snow leopard.

No worries... it was a silly error on my end. I looked at the wrong receipt in my email to verify my mbo, which led me to install the wrong driver over and over. I tried a few other drivers randomly, but not the correct one.

scottisholly gave good advice. But before you run to your nearest electronics store, try the method described Toleda

I have an Gigabyte H67MA-UD2H-B3 and the solution via Toleda works for me after update accidentally. Thanks for the advice.

One important thing is that before to apply the Toleda Solution you have to replace the modified AppleHDA for the Yosemite original one, after that you can apply the Toleda solution. I personally download the original appleHDA and replace it in S/L/E, and after that apply the tolled solution.
