i5 10400

UHD 630
Mobile Phone
  1. Android
i5 9400
B360MD3H (F12 BIOS)
R9 280X

I installed 10.13.6 successfully also did security update.
But the problem is I can use either UHD630 or R9280x.
Initially I tried only with iGPU (DVI port). But no success as iGPU ll activated but totally black screen.
So I did framebuffer pathing so that I successfully activated UHD630 (HDMI port), (see image) h/w acceleration enabled supporting h.264,HEVC.
Then I disabled iGPU in BIOS and put 280x (HDMI), and running it perfectly but no QuickSync.
Then I enabled internal graphics iGPU in BIOS and display connected to 280x(HDMI) . Then unable to boot system. it stuck. :banghead::banghead::banghead:(refer images).
It's very important to enabling Quick Sync as I'm a FCPX user.
Plz help

@prashantloveguru143,

Support for 9th gen CPU+IGPU is not included in MacOS 10.13.6 yes you can work around some of the problems by spoofing the CPU/IGPU to 8th or 7th gen but that was only necessary when there was no official support for 9th Gen CPU's in MacOS and is now not recommend.

The correct headless platform ID for 9th Gen CPU with UHD 630 IGPU is 0x3E980003 but that support is only included in MacOS Mojave 10.14.4+ ... see the headless section of this guide (specifically the headless platformID list) for more info:-

When Apple started shipping Mac's with 9th Gen CPU's they came with Mojave 10.14.4 pre-installed, so they would never run 10.13.6. For better compatibility you should upgrade to Mojave 10.14.6 and use a 9th gen SMBIOS with headless IGPU support such as iMac19,1 along with the headless PlatformID of 0x3E980003 which should result in a more stable system and some performance gains.

Cheers
Jay

hey jaymonkey,
thanks for quick reply . i ll definitely going to try mojave soon. but after full day tweaking and efforts i made it works in 10.13.6
disabling CSM in bios solves 90% of problem,
i injected intel and apply framebuffer patch (PlatformID of 0x3E9B0007) in device properties, smbios (18,3)
(19,1) and (19,2) not supported.
everything is working with quicksync.:headbang::headbang::headbang:
but i felt my 280x is slow in fcpx , bcz last time i used 280x with 4690 which was very gud performance,
but i think it bcz i5 9400 has 2.9Ghz(base) and 4.10(turbo) while i5 4690 has 3.5Ghz(base) and 3.9(turbo)
i need ur justification over this isuue.
plz tell me how to check whether processor is running perfectly ??

i ll post detail installation guide soon, thank u so much.

is 10.14.6 installer available or i have to install 10.14.5 1st and then upgrade to 10.14.6 what u say??

@prashantloveguru143,

Yes, just download Mojave from the App Store .. it will always be the latest version (Currently 10.14.6+).

If your system is running 10.13.6 via properly configured Clover + Lilu, WhatEverGreen, AppleALC .. etc then you should be able to do a direct update from 10.13.6 to 10.14.6+ just by running the 10.14.6+ installer from within MacOS after you have downloaded it from the App store.

Make sure to do a full backup first (recommend using Carbon Copy Cloner) and also make a copy of your EFI partition, that way if anything goes wrong you can easily restore the system to how it was.

Cheers
Jay

Update:
(PlatformID of 0x3E9B0007)

Dont Use PlatformID of 0x3E9B0007 as i was facing glitches and Greenish artifacts in FCP
So, i updated PlatformID of 0x59120003
device Id: 0x59128086

it resolves that issue.

Hi Prasantloveguru143,

Could you please share your config.plist?
I have Gigabyte b365m d3h which is very similar to b360m d3h.
I also have core i5 9400 and a video card.
I would like to use headless igpu with Quicksync.
I will run Catalina.

Thanks.
