Hey guys,

Trying to OC my 9900K at 5g.
I have the following setup:
  • 9900K
  • Aorus Master Z390
  • Corsair 150i pro AIO
  • 64GB Ram Corsair Vengeance
  • EVGA 1000 P2 PSU
  • Radeon Vega 64 Nitro+
The settings are the following:

Advanced Frequency Settings
  • CPU Clock Ratio: 50
  • Extreme Memory Profile (XMP): Profile1
Advanced CPU Core Settings
  • Uncore Ratio: 47
  • Package Power Limit1 - TDP (Watts): auto
  • Package Power Limit2 (Watts): auto
  • Platform Power Limit1 (Watts): auto
  • Platform Power Limit2 (Watts): auto
  • CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E): Disabled
  • C3 State Support: Disabled
  • C6/C7 State Support: Disabled
  • C8 State Support: Disabled
  • C10 State Support: Disabled
Advanced Memory Settings
  • Extreme Memory Profile (XMP): Profile1
Advanced Voltage Settings
Advanced Power Settings
  • CPU Internal AC/DC Load Line: Auto
  • CPU Vcore Loadline Calibration: Extreme
  • VAXG Loadline Calibration: Auto
  • CPU Vcore Current Protection: Extreme
  • VAXG Current Protection: Auto
CPU Core Voltage Control
  • CPU Vcore: 1.370V
After i boot and start stressing the PC a little bit (not Prime95 or Cinebench stuff) the mouse gets stuck.

If i try to set it to 4.9 GHz and i set the voltage to 1.375 i get over 104 C degrees on some cores.

Any advice?

Does your CPU really need 1.37 volt for 5.0 Ghz? Thats very high. You should start with around 1.3 and check if you could go even lower. I guess you will not need loadline calibration extrem. Try something lower. And be careful it seems like you dont really know what you are doing. Read some guides in general about overclocking if you dont have it done yet. There are as well guides on youtube

I’m not an expert, but i do knowna thing or two. I know that 1.350 should the the highest value i should reach, that’s what’s recommended in the Gigabyte guides too. However, i’m not getting any stability with it. In Hackintosh at least. I’ll install Windows on a separate drive and see how it works.

That motherboard has great VRMs it should be able to handle 1.4v. I still wouldn't do it personally, if I can't get stable at 5Ghz at 1.35 max then I'm out. I'm not willing to go crazy with a custom loop just squeeze out that little bit of power.

So according to siliconlottery.com about 35% of their 9900Ks get to 5Ghz at around 1.3 volts. 87% get to 4.9 GHz at 1.28.. and all 9900Ks should be able to do 4.8 Ghz easy. 7% make it to 5.1 GHZ comfortably..

I didn't win the lottery on mine but I do Okay at 4.9 Ghz... but tend to leave at a nice 4.8 Ghz and temps get to about 78 under heavy normal workloads.. I don't cook my CPU under prime 95... I've always thought that was silly stuff... If I get a blue screen during heavy workloads then I just add about 5 more volts to the CPU. Always works well for me.

I wouldn't get stuck on the 5GHz.. it's a nice number but even at 4.7 Ghz this CPU blows everything else away.

Hi there!

My setup is:
Sapphire Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB,

Intel i7 8700k,

Gigabyte Z390 AORUS MASTER,

16GBx2 3200Mhz Crucial ballistic Sport LT,

BenQ EW3270U Monitor,

Samsung M.2 970 evo 500GB ssd for Windows

Samsung SSD Internal 860 EVO 2.5 “(1 TB) for MacOS 10.14.3,

EVGA SuperNOVA 850 P2, 80+ PLATINUM 850W

As I have same problems with booting and graphic cards do you think your refi folder will work for me?

Thank you.

Holy bejesus!!! 1.37v with extreme LLC setting for just 5GHz??

The Z390 Aorus Master has really good VRM and should not have a problem with 1.37v and extreme LLC, but unless you really did poorly in the silicon lottery, that's probably way overkill.

I make my 9900K to hit 5.0 with GA-Z390 Designer and I use Kraken X62 cooler.
so right now I test with yes > /dev/null & x16 times. and machine are work great.
My CPU voltage is 1.30, I try 1.27 but some time system crash.. on 1.28 crash only one and I put 1.3 and all week there is no problem.
I have a question about intel gadget, CPU power 190W are OK?
and can some one give me good bios setup. I put all
  • CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E): Auto
  • C3 State Support: Auto
  • C6/C7 State Support: Auto
  • C8 State Support: Auto
  • C10 State Support: Auto
is this wrong ? and What they do ?

I don't know what CPU Enhanced Halt is, but the others are power states. I never mess with any of these and just leave them at the default settings.
