8.3.1 error

a friend created a thumb drive for me, but its failing for some other reason. theres a thread for it.

anyway, im creating my own from scratch and i get the error seen in the pic.

ive tried twice now. what gives?

So what you’re saying is to open Terminal and to type that in?

My questions:

1.) how do I know what the destination is of my thumb drive? Should I assume the default path for a thumb drive is /dev/disk2?

2.) so I can name it anything? Like stop getting so High Sierra?

3.) am I to assume HS is to remain in the Applications folder the entire time?
