4540S LCD Screen (1080p replacement)

I already have the correct cable (hopefully) quoted in this thread.
Also, my 4530s currently has a 1080p screen with a dual link cable, working fine. My question is can I leave the dual link cable in the 4530s and re-fit the old 768 standard screen back on the laptop with the dual link cable (this will save me a lot of work leaving the dual link cable in tact) ?

Regards.

May work but if I'm correct you may need to use SSDT-HIRES.

I already had the HIRES setting, for the 1080 screen, when I replaced with normal 768 screen and booted the screen was completely garbled. I re-run the "./install_acpi.sh install_4x30s" (not _hires) and all seems fine now.

Just to report back....
I purchased an HP ProBook 4540s off eBay which had a cracked and broken screen (no Ram, no power supply, no battery). I already had a working 4530s which I had previously installed the AOU V.4 1080p screen on. So I took the 1080p screen out of the 4530s and put the original screen back in it leaving the dual link cable in place, making that swap nice and easy. I purchased the 4540s dual link cable from eBay (link below) and followed the 4530s 1080p screen swap guide (https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-4530s-display-upgrade-to-1080p-update-2012-06-30.54225/) using the 4540s_Maintenance and Service Guide.pdf as a reference. The swap was text book, no issues, and took about 2 hours in total. So a worthwhile upgrade from the 4530s sandy i3 to a 4540s ivy i5.
The whole 4540s saw me in for about £190.

4540s (eBay) - £70
8GB Ram (eBay) - £22
Power Supply (eBay) - £15
Battery (eBay) - £12
AOU V.4 1080p Screen (Australian eBay seller) - £40
Dual link cable (eBay) - £6
BCM94352HMB (eBay) - £24

4540s dual link cable:

I have a problem when trying to upgrade to 1080p screen:
- Purchased LP156WF1 (TP)(B1),
- Purchased the cable Roger LVDS 50.4RY03.001.
However the cable does not fit into the new panel ??? The jack on the panel is smaller than the cable end.
What should I do now, please help.

First thing to check is....
Does the old current cable fit the new screens jack?
If the answer is yes, the the cable is incorrect version, if the answer is no, then the screen is the incorrect version.

Which cable is it you got? Make sure that the LVDS/Data Cable is 40pin not 30pin. Might be better to buy a proper HP LVDS/ DATA cable from HP Parts.

The screen I purchased has 30pin connector :(
What should I do now ?
Is there any 30 pin cable that 4540s support ?
Or I have to buy another screen ?

No. Only 40pin. Which screen did you purchase?

I purchased a LP156WF1 TP B1 on eBay.
Should have checked panel info on panellook before purchasing.
