Hello everyone. I need some quick advice as i'm a noob :D

I have a Thermalright True Spirit 140 http://bit.ly/ZZDB3A hooked up to my 3770k (NOT OVERCLOCKED) in a Corsair 550D with the fans working push / pull.

My ambient temps seem a little high to me compared to what others have posted online for a similar setup who were posting idle temps of 30C and 50C under full load.

So I took off the 140 and cleaned it and the 3770k as specified with the alcohol and then re-applyed the paste in a thin 1mm line over the cores as advised by Artic for i7 Ivy Bridge Processors, pushed the 140 back down on twisted left and right about 20 degrees until the paste stuck firmly.

I'm using Cool Master Extream X1 Thermal Paste http://bit.ly/ZZEE3q

My ambient room temp is 25 C and I'm getting temps when doing email(idle) of anywhere between 34 C to 45 C. When under full load using CPU test http://bit.ly/ZZEedn with primenet @ 10 & 8 I get a max temp of 60 C.

All temp info is coming from HWMonitor.

So my question is, did I screw up applying my paste or are my temps good. I do a lot of rendering and re-encoding of footage so this machine will be stressed so I want to make sure I am good to go.

Now I just applied the paste and tested this morning so maybe it needs some time to set? I read this sometimes online so i'm not sure.

Also, anyone know how do get software fan control for a ud5h with OS 10.8.3? I installed FakeSMC to get my temp readings but have no fan control.

Thanks for the advice in advance.

Correct! Anything under 80°C is fine. If you OC 75°C should be the limit.
To achieve a quiet system you can reduce the fan speeds!

I have the same board, but I let the cooling beeing controlled by the mainboard. That is possible with PWM controlled fans, they increase their speed by higher CPU temperatures.
