I paid $1600 for the 960 PRO 2 years ago. They still cost $1200 today. I paid $280 for the HP EX950 last week. The HP is clearly the best value in a desktop drive. The Samsung 960 PRO uses less power and would be better suited for a laptop. The 2TB drive with the lowest power requirements that still has decent performance is the Intel 7600p with a maximum power usage of 100mw vs the 5700mw of the 960 PRO. I have not purchased or tested an Intel drive yet. The first one is the Samsung 960 PRO.

I've completed the copy from the the 960PRO to the EX950. Real world speed using SuperDuper -- 650Mb/s
Removed the 960PRO and successfully running on the EX950.

Backing up my 20TB array to a 10 TB Seagate Exos drive (9TB of data). This new 7200 RPM Enterprise drive... 40Mb/s reading and writing. Might as well be a tape drive compared to the NVME drives. Can't wait for the day of high capacity NVMes or even decently priced 3.5" SSDs
